Greetings,
Stupid question- I'm hoping some of you GK experts can help me out with.
I just traded with a guy on CL for an old MB2 500 head. It's sounds pretty good on the clean channel (through a Neo 2x12), but when I push in the boost button (G.I.V.E. channel), I don't seem to have any control on the accompanying Master B knob. With the pre-gain barely cracked open, when I begin turning up the boost knob, sound comes through even with the Master B knob is still closed. Going up to 50% on the boost and raising the pre-gain raises the volume level up by themselves, and then opening the Master B sends it into scary loud speaker sounds like it's going to blow soon orbit. It doesn't seem right, no sound should go through the amp if the master controlling that particular channel is closed, correct?
I'm assuming this is not normal, as with my RB400 III, I could turn up the boost and raise pre-gain as much as I wanted, and then start easing up on the (single) Master Volume to taste. The previous owner never used the boost channel on the amp in question, so doesn't have any idea what I'm talking about- aaarrrrg! And stupidly, I didn't test out the boost channel before trading.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
