But, you can change your position relative to the amp and it quits when you get it just right?
Strange humming issue today. About 30 min into noodling, I tweak a knob on my 400RB and it scratches. Whatever, pots have always been scratchy and I rarely adjust them. After that, however, my amp starts to hum. It seems to relate to the position I stand in relation to the amp. Some spots no hiss, others plenty. Tried my MB200 just to make sure, same problem. What's going on here?
It is, but the hum happens on my MB200 as well, which uses a different power cord.Is this a 400RB version with a detachable power cord? You might try a different one as it would not be the first time I have heard or seen a ground fail on one.

Nothing new in the building or wiring, and I tried that identical bass on another rig tonight at practice. Different house entirely though, but same bass and the MB200. It's just odd. When I began playing, the rig was dead quiet. After adjusting that master knob, it hummed. Even when I adjusted it back, hum. Strange. But at the next location, back to normal. So maybe it's just the house? Bass seems fine in other environments... Won't be able to test again for a week, but it was just odd. That's currently my rig stored at my parents' place, so until I move, it won't get much play. Hopefully it's not an issue when I get my new place! That would leave us with the bass then, loss of shielding or ground. Something new in the building or building wiring (use an outlet tester).
Scratch that! I'll be able to test today, so hopefully I'll get it figured out later. I'm bringing my bag of cables, some of which are brand new, so hopefully that will at least eliminate that possibility. No lighting dimmers in the entire house! Can't be that...
I've thought of the bass being the issue, but as stated before, I played the exact same bass later that day on a different rig and it was perfect. So I don't think it's the bass. I did think of trying more cables, but didn't have any there, so that was my quick assessment. As far as pedals go, removing my pedalboard was one of the first things I did. No change. Thanks for the help guys! It'll be a bit before I can test again, but I'll try and get it down. I'm hoping it's a ground loop somewhere, since when I move, that amp etc. is coming with me. It's currently in temporary storage at my parents' place.
