I guess it’s just something that runs in their jeansHow exactly is this different from every other drummer?
A typical "drummer" response would be.I can’t fart when I’m playing. If I were suffering from some intestinal distress and there was excessive pressure then that’s a different story.
If you’re sure it’s farts then I would brake the ice by asking him if he’s lactose intolerant. It almost sounds like you’re leading in with a joke, “Hey, can I ask you something? Are you lactose intolerant?”
Hopefully the conversation can deepen from there.
Well.. yeah.High Pass Filter. Cures everything.

I like the cork idea, but I feel like the roadie my draw the line at the install. Try rigging up a funnel with some gaffing tape and a tube going to the high hat. If he can power up the high hat with the farts, maybe it will free him up for some double bass work?
Seems to me that you're focusing on the negatives and totally missing the positives.

The past couple of gigs our drummer has been REALLY stinking up the place. I mean, eye watering, cloying, stinking punch to the throat that I'm sure our audience can smell. We play at mid sized bars, so it's not like the audience is that far away. I tend to stand close to the drummer, so occasionally our singer gives me the stink eye, like it's my fault. It's not.
The drummer is a nice guy. I don't know him well enough to say "Dude. No." What to do? Get a fan?
