Geddy Lee????? I don't get it.......

Good, I am happy you got that off your chest! I DO NOT HATE rush, like I said, I like watching them live, they are great musicians, I just dont care for most of their songs. I think almost everyone has a band or style of music they dont like, so whats the problem? I dont care for country music either, so what, I dont have to!

Although Rush has been my favorite band since 1982 I totally understand that not everyone is going to like them (my wife for one). That's fine. Not everyone has the same taste in music. There are many other bands people love that I don't care for. Taste in music is one of the things that makes us individuals and allows for different bands and styles of music to exist. I'm with you on country music. Most of it I don't care for but there are a few songs and artists I can listen to.

You would have to be blind, deaf, or just ignorant to say Rush aren't/isn't;

-amazing musicians
-exceedingly excellent songwriters/lyricists
-commercially successful
-44+ years being hard 'Working Men'
-Pioneers/Eccentrics/Intellectuals/Humans/Comics

3 of some of the most talented human beings that ever assembled into a musical group. They have put emotion and deep, prophetic message in their music. Whether or not you are a fan, you have to appreciate them to SOME degree.

-'uhhh Geldy sounds liyk uh wuman huh huh'
He's had 44+ years of vocal strain and he can still outrange/outperform you singing while he plays multiple keyboards, foot synths, bass (amazingly), and keeping the fans alive with wonderful, energetic music.

-'they're all ignorant, pompous, and elitist musicians who don't have feelings in their music'
No emotion? Listen to the multi-personality/1st person characterization in 2112. The raw feel of the Cygnus duology. The promise and message of all of Permanent Waves, anything... And they may be very technical players (if that) but they have emotions. They aren't mechanic. They have always been humble. Neil just is shy of his crowd, who can blame?...

'One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact...
I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend...
All the world's indeed a stage,
And we are merely players,
Performers and portrayers,
Each another's audience
Outside the gilded cage.'

Overall, Rush is an amazing group with 3 talented, human, humble men who have put wonderful music out for 44 years and may last a bit longer. They have good and bad times, good songs and bad songs, but the fans of Rush will always understand how and why they are.

Please, someone, if you can, ARGUE WITH ME OVER THIS.

I like Geddy's playing and Rush too. I find it to always be tasteful, lyrical, melodic and impressive. I can understand that you don't like Rush because they're not for everyone but why start a thread about it? I personally hate Flea and the RHCP but I would never start a thread on it. Just my 2 cents.

I have always admired Flea's skill even though RHCP are not my kind of thing. Then I heard his playing on the Mars Volta's album Deloused in the Comatorium and that's when I realized how good Flea really is, the bass work on that album is great and it's not slap style at all, sounds nothing like RHCP but it's very tight and professional-sounding. It is cool to hear him playing prog rock.

Not a big rush fan or primus fan, but I do like Vic.

Geddy can sing, while they may not have been recorded at the same time I give props to people who pull off singing and playing live. I haven't seen Rush live either, but I am assuming they pull it off pretty well.

How are they live compared to other comparable rock acts?

Have seen them 21 times since 1983. They are the PERFECT live band, period.

Agreed. If that doesn't convince haters, Rocket Juice and the Moon should. He's a surprisingly well rounded bassist.

Fair enough. Still though... This is about Geddy :p

There's a ton of stuff I just don't get. Are you offended yet? But I do find it interesting to hear the opinions of people who do get it. Sometimes I learn something, sometimes not. Rush, God, nuclear energy, whatever.

Maybe the OP simply has an enquiring mind. No reason to take it personally - leave that for Geddy. Though I'm sure he's mature enough to deal with it.

I can't believe this tasteless thread is still going. If you don't like RUSH fine. But the things that this guy said about Geddy Lee is absolutely ignorant. To me , this thread was created just to cause hard feelings and arguments. I can't even believe that I am wasting my time posting in this senseless thread. Enough said!

I personally love arguing over Rush. Many arguments invalidated: many comments nullified. See my comment above.

I've enjoyed watching so many make the OP look like an ignorant fool.
