Sorry for the delay in the response. Yes, Tom Brantley Geddy pups.....KILLERHey @gefilter, what were those Geddy pickups you were singing the praises of a while back?

Yep. I think I’m gonna buy a cheap jazz and throw some Brantleys in it to scratch my Geddy itch on a budget. Of course, the YYZ would be next.Sorry for the delay in the response. Yes, Tom Brantley Geddy pups.....KILLER

For me they have s bit more headroom and way more grunt. What do those do for you? I'm a pickup ignoramus. All I know is that the double humbuckers on my Warwick crush the soapbars on my Ibanez like a grape.
Heck yeah, buddy!Yep. I think I’m gonna buy a cheap jazz and throw some Brantleys in it to scratch my Geddy itch on a budget. Of course, the YYZ would be next.
These are for Jazz basses, but Tom Brantley makes many other styles as well. Are those only for the jazz bass, or do they make other versions?

Well whatever preamp I use would be the most dominant voicing, but the Brantley pups just seem to play real nice with anything and allow me to dial in exactly what I want a bit easier, they sing really nice in the upper register, plus that midrange grunt is to die for.Very cool. I’ve stumbled on a couple of your videos before randomly in the Tube. Nice playing, I’ve really enjoyed them.
Good sound, what would you say the percentages are for the sound, para vs pickups?
Thank you, brother!Thanks.
I noticed a pretty distinctive grind, and didn’t think that it was ALL coming from the paradriver.
Good stuff, good stuff.
Well, yes. I’m sure you’re right. I might do that. I was hoping for a good Black Friday deal on a YYZ, but I haven’t really seen anything earth-shattering yet.Seems to me that the YYZ would get you right there with whatever you already have, and be an overall cheaper option.
I have a 2112, and it will make plugging up a dog turd and thumping it sound good, Geddy-esque or otherwise.

I have considered that one, but have not been impressed with Squiers in a very long time. But maybe that's changed. It's been probably 10yrs since I've played one. Heck. If it's good enough for Joe Dart, who am I to complain? The latest Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jazz has the pickups in the 70s position like the Geddy Lee sig (all previous Squier '70s' bass had 60s positioning). And it comes in black with maple board and black blocks! Perfect for a Geddy-a-like!
