I second this, and a good way to do so is to get their "Chronicles" album, which is like a "Best Of" one (even though it was released before their latest 3 albums).
Some of the Rush CDs differ from the original vinyl versions, but you will find those omitted tracks on the "Chronicles" album, too!
Geddy is one of my main influences, especially in the way he'll quickly double attack some of the notes in the melody, and the melodies themselves.
Hey I am glad to see another actually realize the Geddy and Rush is a major influence on Music......I love rush and would be hard pressed to name very many trios that have the talent these guys have.....Favorite Albums...Permanent Waves, All the Worlds A Stage,Moving Pictures,Exit Stage Left and Signals... check these out and I gurantee u wont be un happy
I respect G.LEE highly for his ground breaking work with rush,BUT i dont really like his music aside from 5 or 6 songs that they play regularly on the radio.
I am a classic rock fan and grew up to that era of music in which he helped design,I just dont like the music that Rush put out,BUT it does'nt mean i dont like his style or playing by any means.
He was very important in the bass community and I think he is one of the top bassists in that perticular genre of music,and OH YEA his sig. bass rocks !

Like Bimp and ByTor said, Geddy Lee is the primary reason that I became serious about bass, back in my early teenage years.
Count me in as another big Geddy fan.
And he's only getting better too. His playing now is beyond anything he did when he was younger; his playing on Rush's new DVD just smokes. He's the epitome of cool to me: he's this hip older guy wearing shades on stage tearing up his bass with more energy than a stable full of nu-metal bass-bashers a third his age.

I'll have to go get Chronicles now, I'm a fan of Rush for a few months. I'd probably already have several albums, but I'm on a Yes high right now and bought two of their albums lately and had a friend burn "Fragile."
Geddy Lee is my 2nd influence, just after Chris Squire. Awesome bass lines, punchy, melodic, inventive. Great.
His work, especially in the "Moving pictures" album, is terrific.

Definitely my favourite band. I can't get over the Rio CD and DVD. Incredible. My favourite album is still Moving Pictures.

Gotta love Geddy. Also my main influence. The cool thing about Rush's music (other than the fact that it rocks) is that it kinda moves in eras, so it's easy to tell if you dig one style versus another. Check out their Chronicles two-disc set for a pretty strong sampling of most of their work.... personally, I think it's all good.
Yeah well, get payed this weekend, so I am heading to HMV next week prolly. Rush is also cool because they are canadian

geddy lee was my biggest influence in getting into bass too. shoot, the instrumental in my sig started out as an alternative to yyz when i got sick of playing it so often in my old cover band 13 years ago
geddy lee is what makes me move while i play, and i would say that there isn't a bad rush song yet.
