I am a huge Rush fan but would have to disagree with this statement. At least personally :). Have you listened to Caress of Steel? That is the only album I can criticize but it is an example of songs that were probably necessary for the growth of the band and yet are not great songs with a couple of exceptions.

As alway, just my opinion.

Since there are many rush fans here i shall recomend another band called Watchtower. They where inspired by Rush but took the music a little closer to metal and it is also more technical. The bassplaying is amazing and by a guy called Doug Keyser.

I reckon it's also quite amazing how Geddy's singing has been improving over the years, especially in regards to melodies; On earlier tracks, e.g. "Circumstances", he often just followed the chord changes or even his own bass line (see "Tom Sawyer"), and I wonder if the change to much more independent vocals was a result of changing producers after all those years with Terry Brown?!

Ged was the guy who inspired me to first pick up a bass, and my appreciation for both him and the band have not diminished one bit over the years. If anything, I appreciate them more and more, especially with VT being their best overall release in a very long time.

sall good, if it's one thing I've learned, it's that people can have vastly different opinions of what's good even while discussing the same band

in fact the band I'm with atm, we're all hopeless Rush heads - sometimes when I hear them reference certain select tunes as favorites though (e.g. superconductor), it makes me cringe inside - I distinctly remember the only time I saw them perform that tune live, I seized the opportunity to hit the restroom and get a pretzel! - yet, I like a LOT from Presto otherwise

while I happen to think the production on VT leaves much to be desired, it was their first release in a long time that really...connected with me - truth be told though, I find lots to like on all their albums :)

That's exactly what I'm waiting for every time I listen to "Vapor Trails", that the music connects with me.
Sure, there are still bits that get stuck in my head and all, but in regards to the album as a whole
the spark just won't ignite like it did with their other albums.

And yes, each to their own! :)

I think it is just him maturing as a singer. I noticed that he can multi-task much better on the newer material and that his singing is just an extension of that. It was through watching Rush in Rio that I came to this conclusion.

I have the utmost admiration for Geddy Lee and Rush. He will forever remain a deep and respected influence on my playing and my approach to music. The music of Rush was the soundtrack to my "Wonder Years," and to this day I can barely contain myself when I hear some of their tunes. I think I am going to cry right now.

Geddy rules!
He is one of my biggest influences and Rush is my favorite band.
i like Vapor trails. I think that the lyrics are cool and the music is really different of what they `ve done before. "one little victory"" Ghost Rider" and "out of the cradle" are great tunes for me.
Geddy, as always is awesome. With really really cool licks.
His singin is cool for me. the only thing that I dislike is the fact that he sings really really high, and I can`t sing most of his songs!
Neils lyrics are great, I think that there are few bands with such a lyricist as Rush.
Rock in Rio? I was there. And it was simply amazin. I hope i can see them again.
