Geedy's New CS Jazz

Hi guys,
The bass you are talking about is a Surf Green Fender Masterbuilt Jazz Bass with a matching peghead.
It was built for Geddy as a surprise from his tech for the upcoming tour. I am the builder that made the bass so I know this as fact.
Sweet bass, and so happy to see he is playing it on tour!

How cool to have the person who built this bass to respond !!!

I don't quite get the fake wear and tear either, especially since I'm sure all of Geddy's basses get pretty beaten up by the end of a tour.

Guys, Geddy's tech wanted a bass that would physically look like his black 72. It was a gift, not meant to be an illusion of a real vintage road scarred bass.
I think it is a real cool thing that his tech likes working with Geddy so much to do this for him. I don't see it in any way as being fake, it was a piece of art for a great player.

I think the comments were meant to be more of an opinion on the concept of the relic finish itself rather than a comment on the finished work.

I doubt it will happen, but if this configuration were ever offered on the GL jazz that would be sweet!

The surf with matching peg is cool for sure.
It was much fun building a bass for someone that I loved as a kid.

Yep...... Don't get me wrong, that bass is beautiful and I am sure plays like butter!

My two favorites are, KISS and RUSH!!!!! That is why I got a Geddy Jazz and an Gene Simmons AXE Well that and my non Sig, American Standard Jazz!!!

Glad I stumbled upon this thread! I was kinda wondering what was up with the blue-ish Jazz I'd seen in some concert shots of Geddy this last week, and it turns out there's a nice little story behind it. Props to you Echo, that's a sweet bass and I imagine you must be on cloud nine seeing Geddy play it.

Geddy is his boss. I'm sure his paychecks and employment status has alot to do with it. How many fans do you see building him a custom shop bass?

Yes, of course. I just bought my boss a new MacBook Pro. I'm sure everyone here has done something similar.

Gah! Now I can't remember where I read the interview, but the sonic blue relic jazz isn't a Fender.

He didn't name the builder though.

A-searching I will go to find the interview...

Gee whiz, mister. It sure says it on the headstock. It's gotta be a Fender. Nobody would do that.
