Looks a lot like Gene's custom Gibson EBO
well it retails for as much as the actual Gene Eb-O when it was on ebay that is.
I'd build my own if i wanted for less, but i'm pretty far from using kiss gear for my own purpose unless i was in a kiss tribute

And my third LoBue has been completed and shipped to her new owner in Canada!
I cheated. I got mine from another luthier in Japan. Gotta say though, you did a great job in your builds.
I played a TV yellow one at CME. Cool bass, but WAY overpriced and I'm not a fan of the whole relic thing.

I was asked to build a LoBue replica as played by Mr. Simmons.
To be honest I'd never heard of it before. I saw the Spector build @bassgod76 was doing and asked him a few questions, he has been really helpful and suggested I put the build thread into this one which is dedicated to them.
It'll be all mahogany construction with rosewood fretboard.
I got the body rough cut out today:

Going with the Schaller roller bridge as suggested to get the strings to line up with the pole pieces.

I’m really excited about this. I hope you take the information I gave you, and make your build an even better representation of the bass, than I ever have.
Basic pick guard cut out. Didn’t do the pickup rout just yet.
Slotted, dotted and truss rodded!
The 24th fret is really close to the edge so I wanted to put that fret in before cutting to length. I could just see the front edge giving way if I cut first.

Neck roughed to size. I’ll glue the fretboard on and then clean up the tenon and set about routing the pocket.
Cutting frets to size this morning.
Fretboard radius is 12” so I adjust the bender until it makes 12” circles (or semi circles).
Followed by a light filing of each slot top.
And then this handy little thing. It lets you know if the fret slot is deep enough. Also lets you know if there’s some crud down in the slot that blowing out won’t move.
Sometimes the packed in sawdust requires more radical efforts to move.
Headed out to the cold garage to press this in.

Couple of small setbacks due to me being distracted with the pesky day job slow progress though. Carving the neck profile today.
