Gene Simmons New Cort Axe Bass???

Your not Peter Griffin are you :D? I cant see why its worth sticking up for the semi talented over-weight quite old man that is Gene Simmons....oh I went there :).

One thing wasnt clear to me, is is 5K for the axe, and then an extra 5K to meet him?

where do you get that he's overweight?? Maybe in his rediculus costume, but he's definitely not fat...

We'll see if you still have the ability to do what he does at 60 years old.

I agree about Cort being a horrible brand and crap. See, his strategy is to get it made as cheaply as
possible with the most basic woods because he knows that as a result of using EMG pickups, the wood type will never matter. See, he isnt as stupid as you think:-)

Actually, Corts are fantastic instruments, at their propper price range. At Simmons $5000, thats stupid.

It hardly costs him a couple of grand to have Cort put in EMG's.

And even with EMG's, the wood matters, while EMG's have a signature tone, the woods will still have an affect on it, see the brighter sounding Spector NS2, since it uses a maple body, as an example, using mahoagny, it would sound different, yet still have the EMG tone.

Come back when you know what you're talking about.:hmm:

You know, I understand $5000 is absolutely outrageous, and I know I always stick up for Gene, but for good reason: you people just LOVE to kick the guy into the dirt, don't you?? ANY opportunity you get, you pounce.:spit:

Obviously, you didn't see the part where he was discussing the wood used in Stradivarius Violins, and the resonance they had. So because he didn't state the SPECIFIC SPECIES OF WOOD he's using, he's automatically musically illiterate, and has NO idea what he's talking about??

The neck is hard maple, the body is mahogany, obviously from overseas, and the fingerboard is Indian Rosewood.

Oh and by the way, if you think all Gene does is play open 1/4 notes then you definitely HAVE NOT listened to the majority of KISS's music, because the man definitely does not pound out 1/4th notes.

So remind me again, when is YOUR new record coming out and going to Number 1??

Sorry, Try Again!!:spit:
I always defend Gene as a musician. I know you do too.

...The fact that you are defending this crap leaves me speechless however!

I know what I'm talking about and I know that by and large, when you're using EMGs, the wood type will have no extremely noticeable effect on tone.

So basically you guys are going to say that he DOES know what he's talking about?? It said on his website that the body was made of a special rosewood, so maybe it's a rosewood from far east??:smug:

I understand that he sounds like a moron here, but dear God, heaven forbid someone were to ever say anything remotely positove about the man.

I wasnt really defending it as much as just stating how I saw it. And yes, I thought this was absolute crap when I first saw it on his site about 2 weeks ago. $5000 is pretty insane. I mean, i could understand MAYBE $1500 for the bass, a KISS ticket and. Meet and Greet with him, but I mean, $5000, really?? In this economy?? Of course, recession or not, that would still be insane.

BTW, glad to know I'm not completely alone in this world!:p

Were the trees grown by elves and fairies deep in the magic forest along with jack and his bean stalk?

So, what you are saying is that he is DELIBERATELY ripping people off?

I'm still not paying 5K for a bass that looks like a high school project.

Tell that to all the luthiers & builders using them in different tonewoods. The only thing different about EMGs is that they are pre eq'd, before they reach the controls, nothing else.
