Question for the GB guys
Can a NEO-Pak amp handle a 2.66 ohm load (an 8 and 4-ohm in parallel) as-is or does it need the upgrade?
I thought I heard it can handle sub-4-ohm loads if not driven to max volume. Even without the upgrade.
thanks
Question for the "GB guys"
Jason---I was asking specifically for their opinion. thanks

I'd like to hear from someone who's tried the Neo-Pak with Bill Fitzmaurice cabs such as the Omni 10/12/15, or the DR250.
I just ran my new Neo Pak earlier this evening and experienced the same rattle that TOPPER and DanoesqBass speaks of.
On certain notes it's clearly there and sounds mechanical as it is not coming through the speakers.
I am contacting the seller of this new head on Ebay (INDOORSTORM) to recify the situation in the a.m.. My concern is that they will not have another unit they can swap out and it will be a case of refund or warranty work...will have to see...
It would be nice though if some of the kind and knowledgable GB folks would comment on this particular phemomena.
We've had multiple instances of this issue brought up here on Talkbass...
Besides this rattle: the head sounds great!!! Played my passive Fender Jazz and P's through my newly aquired Aguilar DB112 and it sounded to my ears, fantastic.
As an aside, if it does goes to warranty work, I will need the 2 ohm conversion as well...![]()
I built a BFM O10 and use it with my NeoPak.
It freakin' ROCKS.
End of story. End of gear search, unless I start playing much bigger gigs, which is unlikely at present.
Hello;
I saw your PM. Since you have a 4 ohm, why don't you let us bring it in, do the upgrade and check out the rattle.
All at no-charge...we'll cover shipping both ways...turn around...two weeks.
With the 100's and 100's of these in the market, the amount of rattle issues we've heard can't really be described as a phenomena...that implies it is a "known" or on-going situation. If that were the case, we could point to a systemic issue and tell you what it was and how to fix it. Frankly, I haven't heard of this as an issue until now.
Please see my PM ....maybe we can diagnose. Either way, we can service this very quickly and get you the uprgrade.

I just did a little re-tooling and picked up another Neo-Pak. Let's see what it will do with dual 112's and a 212 Neox this weekend at 2 ohms!!! I'll report back Monday.
That will be the first time that amp will have been run at 2ohms...or even on a gig for that matter. I hope it makes you smile!

Hey Dan,
I've run a Neo Pak at 2 ohms before without any problem, just not with this speaker configuration. I cant wait to see how she does!!
With the Shuttle 6.0 I can only go to 2 of the 12's due to the 4 ohm minimum... with this one I can double the surface area and only lose 100 watts... gonna be interesting to see!!!
