Genz Benz shuttle 6.0

...I'll probably look around for comparable options, something in the 1x12 or 1x15 would suit me just fine. Exciting times!

The 2x10 has way more bottom that you would think it should have. Very clear, very articulate. But very balanced, sound-wise. GB was the first 2x10 cab that made me change my thinking. I used my Shuttle 6.0 and Shuttle 2x10 cab just last weekend at a smallish gig (no p.a. support) and it was beyond adequate. I will use it again this week at a different smallish job (again, no p.a. support). I have a larger job Saturday, so I will use larger equipment.

My Shuttle 6.0 developed an issue, and Andy worked on it - several years ago. I will never let this rig get away from me. It's a keeper.

I bought a used Shuttle 3.0 combo with a 12 inch speaker a couple months ago off Reverb and absolutely love it. It does have the scratchy's when I turn the knobs, but I had the same amp years ago with a 10 and it was scratchy too. My Magellan 800 doesn't scratch at all. But I have seen in other posts that it is an issue with the Shuttle's. I've turned the knobs back and forth several times but it doesn't go away. I can live with it though. Incredible sounding amp!

The Shuttle amps do use different types pots than we use on the Magellan amps. That backs up your experience between the 2 amp designs. Contact Andy (Agedhorse) and he can offer you service on this issue for the Shuttle.

I’m looking at those too. I’m currently in a state of paralysis by analysis vs reasonable due diligence since I won’t be able to test a lot of options going the used route 😵‍💫

Jumping back in to say that, for example, the GK CX-210 is one option being evaluated. Looking around at things has led me down various rabbit holes involving frequency response values, sensitivity ratings, tweeter vs non, ported vs non-ported cabs, etc. Been trying to wrap my head around lots of variables.

So as an example, anything in the specs here that might inform whether the CX-210 would be a decent match with the shuttle 6.0? My assumption is that it'd be just fine, but I ask because I recognize I've got lots of blind spots relating to the technicals of this stuff. I'm a pretty straightforward, 4-string, standard tuning player; maybe I'll dabble with drop D tuning on rare occasion. And I'm not aspiring for perfect or ideal specs. I'm not a pro, don't need perfection or the latest/greatest of anything.

And don't worry, I'm just using this as an example, I'm not planning to come back here with each and every option I see to request someone check my homework.

Thanks Jeff! Appreciate that. I want to tell you that your products are absolutely the best out there. Thought I had found my sound with the new Mesa products, but something felt like it was missing. Because of the Shuttles I have owned I took a chance on the Magellan 800 and it absolutely exceeded my expectations! Thank you for the time and effort and attention to detail you put into your brand. If I was going to design an amp it would be the Magellan. The only thing I don't like is there are no rack mount accessories to install it in my rack. Hoping you'll eventually come out with a way to fix that!! But thanks again for putting out such a quality amp!

Well my ear is not terribly sophisticated so I can only offer general impressions. Additionally, I wasn’t able to do any in-person testing or A/B’ing of cabs with this amp. Cab purchase was made purely off video samples and reading but it seemed like a safe choice right off the bat for obvious reasons. What I can say though is I’ve got a lot more on tap tonally than what I had before. There’s clarity but not sterility or lifelessness. It took me a little to settle on the bassy tone I was looking for, but found my way to an older post here that suggested some settings. After noodling and tweaking and going back and forth between instruments,
I feel there’s a lot of usable tones in this particular combo. This setup surpasses my needs and definitely offers a higher level of audio fidelity than I’m used to. Effects present well and I really dig experimenting with the gain knob. I notice more of my influence comes through on this setup- the subtle variations in string contact, mistakes, all of it, which I like. I never felt strongly about tweeters one way or another but I like the option of being able to adjust or defeat it altogether. Still trying to determine my preferences there. I was looking at some 2x cab options, including other Genzlers and Genz Benz, but don’t have any regrets going 1x12. I’ve got myself a great sounding and portable setup. Can’t complain and figure I can always expand 😎

I can tell you from experience, a 1x12 + a 2x10 sounds ENORMOUS! But, a 2x10 by it self sounds really, really good, too. A really good head and cab made me work harder, as I could suddenly hear all my flaws. lol

And, a second 1x12 will more than "double" the sound. Not double the volume - but the tone changes immediately into a fatter, fuller sound with more highs and also more lows. I gigged for a while using two 1x12's. Huge sound. But I really think a separate 2x10 would give you a little more flexibility.

Well I’d be lying if I said my shopping around for cabs had stopped just because I made a purchase…. It’s only window shopping until it no longer is

Hello: I just purchased a working Shuttle 6.0 today and am interested in having it serviced. Im in Portland OR. It is working but I did experience a strange noise while adjusting the lo-mid pot, only happened once , now ok.
Check your messages, you probably can’t message me yet since you are new. I sent you the info.
