Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 discussion thread

thank you for the quick response. now i know this is the 9.0 thread but wondering if you folks out there could answer me a question which pertains to both the 9.0 and the 6.0 i have on the way. On the Neo Pak there is a active/passive switch but I notice the 6.0 and 9.0 lack this switch, is the idea just to adjust the gain to taste and have a similar effect of padding the signal (for active basses) if you turn the gain way down low?

I've not compared the 9.0 to the Neo-pak, but the Neo-pak was warmer sounding than the 6.0 to me...a good bit warmer. I did compare those two side-by-side and it was pretty obvious. The 9.0 seems to be the warmest sounding of all 3 heads. I'd say the Neo-pak is inbetween the two.

I'll be running the 6.0 through a NeoX112T which I hope will make up for any "bottom end" shortcomings some have mentioned the 6.0 having vs the 9.0. Any insight as to lack of an active/passive switch on the Shuttle amps and whether or not that is something I should be concerned with as I'm used to having that on the NeoPak.

I found all i need to do om the 6.0 is raise my Bass knob about 3 clicks up..

Any of you guys know if you can purchase the Shuttle and "saddle" separately from the combos? I'd like to mount a 3.0 to an existing 110 cabinet I've had to make my own little combo.

Hey there 9.0 users - I have a quick poser for you - I'm digging my GB 9.0 so much I'm really considering trading in my Epi 502 - which I sort of wanted to keep for bigger gigs but seeing at the Shuttle is actually louder (but about one third of the size) it seems a bit odd to have a big heavy back up amp when I could use the spare cash to invest in other gear I need right now... question is should I keep the 502 as a high quality 'spare' as I really think the 9.0 covers all my needs right now...?

I've gigged the 9.0 three times now and it definitely does the business - if anything I need to turn it up louder just to see what it can really do ;)

I did that exact thing, sold my 502 and bought a 9.0, for the same reasons. I have a LMT 800 and a 9.0, together they don't weigh as much as the 502 and both would seriously kick the 502's a&*. One bad thing about the 502 is it's value has taken a dramatic fall, since you can now buy amps with 900 watts all day long for half of the price of a 502.

So true. The Micro Amps have changed the game a good deal. So far I have only played/owned the MarkBass and Genz Benz Amps (really have no need for anything else).

A friends Bass Player was looking for used amps on craigs list. I suggested he look into either an LMIII or a 9.0, that they were priced so reasonable new why look for a used amp that is more costly and weighs a lot more. One thing to note also is the quality of these little guys. There is a lot of gear out there these days that is cheap but it's also cheaply made. These new amps maintain a high degree of quality while being priced very economically.

Sell the 502.. Great amp.. but if you are not going to use it sell.. I had stacks of amps around here for a long time and just recently decided to get rid of stuff that i dont use anymore.
It was hard but im glad that i did it.
Get a small amp as backup . maybe a shuttle 6.0 on the used market or any other amp on the used market... but it may take an act of god to break the shuttle 9... its pretty bullet proof.. at least mine is so far...

Fwiw, here's a picture of my Gig Skinz medium sized mixer bag that I bought to carry my Shuttle / footswitch / cords / etc. The case will hold the Shuttle head either with the Shuttle bag on or off. I typically put it in the Shuttle bag for extra protection.

I was really not expecting this gooey thing. I am so excited and pleased by this I'm rather emotional over the whole thing.:bawl::)

I'm still playing with the EQ plus switches. Not used to this configuration. It's similar to the 12.0 but not. Might need to get the foot-switch for it.

I play a DB750, and love it. After trying out the 9.0 in a local store, I could easily see it being a light-weight alternative to the DB750. Sure, it might not have the raw balls that the 750 has (but what does?), but I think it could come close enough to keep me happy.

Steve, if you happen to do that, let me know. Or if you would want to bring your Max into the store some day when I can make it up there so I can try both out, that'd be great, too. I'd really like to get a chance to compare the two before I make a decision.

I'm going to be playing in two bands now, so I'm thinking that something a bit lighter is in order for me. I love my DB750, but I think that if I can find something that's lighter, and has a bit more EQ-ability to it, it may be more to my liking in the future.

I just did an In Ear gig and used the 9.0 with the DI in POST EQ out.. I was real happy with the outcome. I have yet to use it on a big 810 cab though..
I did see the uber cabs in person at namm last week and the 210s are in my future.. im going to step from 12 cabs for a while... And i was impressed with the grill on them too.. looked like cloth but its metal.... yeah baby! I think they could stand up under my punishment built like that..

After you had left, I thought that I should have walked you over to the GB area to have you play some stuff.....I'm sorry I didn't.....would have loved to get your feedback. I had my mind on so many other business sectors. :o:scowl:

I thought the Uber 410 that I tried the 9.0 out with was a phenomenal sounding cab. The 9.0/Uber 410 setup could easily make me a happy camper, I think. Didn't care for the Uber 212, at all, but that's a matter of personal preference.
