Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 discussion thread

Thanks. I'll have to give it a try.

I have owned/played a number of the micro heads and the Shuttle 9.0 is Tubey Gooey. None of the other heads I have tried do what this thing does. Do not listen to the multi layered frosting pushed so hard about some of these heads. There is a little bit too much pushing some of these brands under the guise of smootheness.

The Shuttle 9.0 has this built in gooey thing going at any volume. It also will cover vintage Ampeg to Modern Tones and is easy to navigate through a wide range of these tones. I know I sound like I'm gushing over the 9.0 but I am very pleased with it's tonal abilities. Add to that it's available output power and it's a no brainer.

Are you saying the Shuttle 9 has traits ( gooey thing at any volume ) MORE so than the Shuttle 6 Shuttlemax6 and ShuttleMax12?

Yeah as I posted above, I recently paired my 9.0 with a GB Uber 410 (4 ohm) which I'm using for vintage tone! This amp does it all, IMO.

Agreed. I am just really...really digging this thing. I've got a Shuttle 6.0 - and still use it. I've had a ShuttleMAX12.0 - great amp, but not the right one for me. Either I'm totally fooled by the 9.0, or it does have it's own bit of mojo compared to the others. Plenty of oomph into four ohms or eight, a nice emphasis on the low mids, and I giggle every time I lift it in and out of the bag.

I haven't played enough of the micro amps to know if the mojo is in this one or not, but its working well for me. '93 Warwick Streamer Stage I 5-String -> Line6 M13 -> Shuttle 9.0 -> SWR Golight 2x10 -> Ashdown 4x10. This little rig certainly rattles the walls and puts a smile on my face :)

I played a shuttle6 on a gig last Sunday
then I played Shuttlemax12 at store
but no shuttle9
Is it shuttle9 or shuttlemax9?

What is different about 9 versus the ShuttleMAX12?

Here, let me google that for you. :D :D

Differences between the Shuttle 9.0 and ShuttleMAX 12.0? Here's the Cliff Notes version, as it applies to me. 9.0 is tube-only pre, and a single side on the power stage. MAX 12.0 has tube & FET pre channels and more granular EQ controls for them, and dual power modules.

Again, speaking only for myself, the MAX 12.0 only makes sense if you have two four-ohm cabs (or four eight-ohm cabs...whatever combination allows you to run @ four-ohms from each of the power modules). Obviously, if you really like the FET pre and/or the parametric EQ, these would factor in too. I really like the sound of the MAX 12.0, but I also really like the sound of the 9.0 and the output for my eight-ohm cab(s).

Yes.

The Shuttle Max 12.0 has this amazing clarity and depth with zing. The tone is far superior to any amp out there (except the 9.0). :D The Shuttle 9.0 is a whole nother thing. It has a touch of the 3d thing going and lots of depth but the 9.0 is extreme warm/chewy/gooey.

Hello again! Well my post a few pages back about regarding the shuttle has been resolved. It was in fact the rehearsal cab.....taken me a while to get my new cab off the courier, but I'm now getting all of that great tone at pretty stupid levels in a lightweight package!! Couldnt help but post a picture of my new leightweight rig! Thanks again for the assistance!

There is no Shuttle MAX9 at least yet that i know of..
But there is a Shuttle 9.. no MAX

+1. I use the Shuttle gig bag.. its so much easier to walk into a gig with two single 12s. one in each hand, bass in gig bag on your back and the small 4 pound head in the bag on your shoulder and be able to literally knock stuff off the shelves..
If you had a regular rack that would now be a two trip deal. unless you had a cart.

Good choice Matt. For me it's the shuttle bag all the way. I have other amps that are rack mounted. There's just something about walking into the venue with your 900 watt amp and your instrument in one hand... oh yeah, ease and convenience. :eyebrow:

I thought about it, but actually fits in my bass gig bag, so I couldn't bring myself to make it any bigger than that.

Thanks guys, I just got it yesterday & it's replacing 65 lbs of rack gear, so it's going to be an adjustment I think I'll be liking!

My X2 wireless is the rackmount version so that'll have to be worked out eventually, but for now I'll just diggin this lil powerhouse!
