Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 discussion thread

This thread is like the Energizer Bunny.:bassist:


I can safely say that the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 has settled nicely into being my one and only amp. I use it to run my Double Bass as well as my P-Basses. I really have no need for another amp, the Nine covers all. I might at some point want a second one but not because I think it's going to give me any trouble.

I agree with AH, I use a big cab or a small cab depending on the venue whether it is a loud outside gig or a small rehearsal. I just choose the size cab I need and the 9.0 does the rest.

IMHO you just can not beat or come close to the performance of the Shuttle 9.0. The tone, the features, size, weight, and amount of raw power on tap can not be equaled.

I have to agree with all that you said here..
The 9 goes almost everywhere with me.. small gigs big gigs. I have a thing im going this summer in the UK and Germany and my 9 is going in my carry on as usual... I like at least one thing to be consistent with my rental backline.. The 9 does it all the time. and the DI is stellar.

Remember to change your voltage selector switch to 230 volts (put a big label on the top of the amp before you leave so you don't have a brain fart when you get there ;) ) and be sure you have the proper IEC cordsets or adapters that carry the safety ground pin through. UK uses a 13 amp grounded plug and Germany uses CEE7/4 "Schuko". PM me and I'll look to see if I have some extras I can send you to make your tour easier.

While I haven't gigged my 9.0 yet...the flexibility and power of the little box amazes me. The tonal range is so readily accessible that it doesn't matter what cabs I plug it into...the bottom end into my GS112s is effortless...more importantly, the cabs process the beef generated by the 9.0 with nary a complaint...it's got to be the loudest, deepest sound that I have achieved with my cabs.

Another example of the amazing Customer Service from Genz Benz that goes beyond ordinary, goes beyond "above and beyond", and hits it out of the park.

I LOVE my 9.0, with the Berg AE410, and with the EA Whizzy 110, and the Epi 210. No matter what cab, bass, and situation, the 9.0 delivers the goods.

It's GB only for me after the service Jeff and GB have given me this past year. Their product alone should be enough but their customer service on top of a first rate product is what sets them apart IMO. :bassist:

I currently use a SVT4 and 4x10 PRO-HLF, and am looking for something that is more portable yet can still make your chest rattle. (I play mostly 5 string basses and like the low B to really be heavily felt - I play rock - not heavy not light) - decent representation of my sound is here:

I am thinking about going with the Shuttle 9.0 based on size and all of the great things said about it, and I would like to pair it with 2 2x10s in order to achieve ample headroom and plenty of punch. My other band is just bass and drums and I need to fill a lot of space.

Any thoughts on whether or not this is a reasonable switch? Playing the gear at a music store just doesn't quite cut it, and I don't believe I can get the right cabs I want in town - so was looking for someone who was an Ampeg user who made the switch.

If you get two new 210's, be sure to get 8 ohm versions so that you can run both on the Shuttle... 4 ohm minimum load.

this is the best amp I have ever tried. I am still wondering why the other one has not been snatched yet. :rollno:
many people refuse to believe how good these small amps sound and how just a little adjustment on the eq knobs goes a LOONG way.

I am GB on my amps now all the way!
+1 Agedhorse for an awesome product that is easier to carry and has the same or more power than any other amp out there 4 times its weight. :) :bassist::bassist:

I had an Ampeg SVT 350 and that was my dream amp, then I tried the Hughes & Kettner which was wayy cool due to being a hybrid head with a tube and then I tried the Shuttle 9.

the story ends there. My H&K, the Ampeg, My Warwick Extreme 10.1 and my SWR workingman's 15 are all gone now.

You will love the tone of this amp and also love the light weight. will not pull your back at all!! This amp gives you ajzzy tones, modern tones, rock tones, dubbed tones.. man this is the most versatile amp I have ever tried (tried Markbassk,Trace Elliot, of course Fender and Line 6 and this is the best one out there) :bassist::bassist:

i had two gigs this past weekend .

for Saturdays gig , i used my Shuttle 9.0 with my LowDownSound 15/6.5 cab .
awesome .
tight bottom with just the right amount of sizzle .
punchy and loud as hell ...

Sunday , i got the chance to use the back-line provided ,
an Ampeg SVT-VR with matching 810 cab .
typical Ampeg tone .
massive grunt , loud as hell , thumpin' lows .
... not a bad thing , just not as massive ,
or thumpin' as the 9.0 .
:D

at both gigs we had incredible PA support , and i was DI'd into both .
the DI of the Shuttle was far superior ,
at least in the opinion of the soundman .

imo , the volume and tone of the Shuttle rig was outstanding ...
just crushed the Ampeg .

while i usually run my bass into an all tube Bassman 300Pro ,
this little monster is working it's way into my heart .

great product , great customer service .
what else could i possibly want ?

Got my Upright Bass back with a Realist installed today as well as with a new Fingerboard etc....(ouch). Got a chance to play it a while with my Shuttle 9.0.

Oh my God!

Not going to be having any trouble being heard with that one. :hyper::bassist:

Sounds great as well. I played with the EQ a little. Will try Doubling some tomorrow with my EB to see how the transition is EQ wize. I noticed the output from the Realist is close to my 51 P Bass = nice.

This amp just keeps getting better. :)

My 9.0 traveled in my suitcase as I flew from Michigan to Florida and back a week and a half ago, where it served as my amplification for a four hour outdoor jam in the Florida heat as well as being my "headphone amp" for the week. It's an amazing piece of gear...
