I don't have a Shuttle but a Neopak and switched the tube to a Tung Sol Gold. Immediately turned off the bass boost and found it clearer and fuller sounding. Cheap investment :hyper:

There's a thread here somewhere on that but I can't take time right now to search it. The Ruby in my amp is slightly microphonic so I'm running a JJ in my Shuttle right now and have been pleased with the tone from that tube, Seems to be warmer and a nicer breakup than the Ruby that was in there. I also tried a old NOS GE 7025 but didn't like the sound as much as the Ruby or JJ.

My advice, just start swapping a few and see what you like. What with the 6.0 being SS on the output, I don't think it has the sag factor like an all tube amp does, but it still sounds great. Make sure you get the limiter coming on somewhat to get the full effect from this amp. My opinion again.

Looks like a 163X compressor, one of the best single knob compressors for bass ever built (next to the multiknob 160 of course) IMO. They can occasionally be found cheap on the "Bay", can be worth the investment if that's what you are looking for.

Yes it is a Hercules stand but it is not mine..It was at the venue that i played so i just hung that SAD there.. The engineer wanted to hear the JJ on my my Alleva for the gig.. so i wanted to make him happy...

Hi agedhorse. We met at NAMM last year.. Merry Christmas to you too.
It is a 163x.. I dont know why i use it inline.. I have been using it for years ( ok 2 decades) .. I have it set to only go on if my cable pops out.. which it never does..
But i liked it so much i bought 3 of the old black face ones as they came up on ebay. .they are real cheap! but for a single knob you are right, they do sound very good.. it has a nice soft knee feel...
Just gain match the output with the small rotary and then the slider for gain reduction and your done.. perfect every time.

I've used mine with a Wizzy 12 and it sounds pretty good. I believe it you do a search you will find some have used the NeoPak with the Wizzy too. NeoPak and Shuttle sound very similar. Some may have used either with other EA cabs.

I have a Wizzy 110 and a Shuttle 6.0. The pair is great together! For a while I also had a Wizzy 112. This was also great with the Shuttle, with a little deeper sound as you might expect. Not a massive difference though. Just some. The 110 is amazing "in the mix", and I can hear myself better with than that the 112 when playing with the band.

I also have an EA Micro 300. Tough to choose between this and the shuttle. The Shuttle has more warmth and more power, but the Micro 300 is wonderfully clear in every detail, and so tiny!

With the new EA Micro 500 and iAmp Pro coming out, the Shuttle Max and the Markbass LM800, if I had it to do over it would be a really tough choice. Shuttle 6.0 is on top as of now though!

Just had band practice with my completed rig

Bought a used Epifani UL2-112 recently
Shuttle 6.0
SR5HH

Finally I can hear the B string *and* feel it at any volume.
I just starting using the Shuttle with the Epi, but it is a VERY good matchup. I'll be tweaking tone controls from here on in but I had the shuttle set flat and did all my tweaking with my technique and tone controls on the bass... they way I've always wanted it to be!

So i took my Shuttle to rehearsal today. And I think I still need to twiddle around with the settings. I got compliments on the tone, but I am not quite sold yet. It sounded good, but not as great as I thought it would. I did manage to clip both the pre and power amp. Something I almost never do on my Carvin BX1200.
