So i took my Shuttle to rehearsal today. And I think I still need to twiddle around with the settings. I got compliments on the tone, but I am not quite sold yet. It sounded good, but not as great as I thought it would. I did manage to clip both the pre and power amp. Something I almost never do on my Carvin BX1200.

can you be more specific?

* you say you "clipped". Did you hear clipping or did you just see lights?
* instrument used?
* cab used?
* amp settings...in o'clock format.

You need to figure out the mid frequency knob. Go to the Genz site and download the owners manual for the Shen 60. There's info in there about the mid freq that really cleared it up for me.

I never get extreme with eq and now with the Uber212 I use no eq at at all. Experiment with setting at home both in the boost and cut modes to help you hear the possible effects.

I used mine last night... it's not BAD but I am not considering the sale of my SVT-VR over it.

Thanks. I have taken the time to read the manual and am starting to understand the amp. I am running the pre gain and vol at 1 and para flat with the low boost, and I am much happier with the tone now.

I am using a Bongo5 and Stingray, and Schroeder 1215L.

good...I'm glad you're on the way. FWIW, please keep in mind that the Bongo is a VERY hot preamp. Use it's eq section very sparingly too. Bongo's and Spectors are two of the tougher preamps on all amplifier front ends.

I have dialed down the volume to about 75% on the Bongo. This is helping to limit the overdrive on the amp as well.

I recently tried a Shuttle 6.0 and 210T cab combo with my Lakland Darryl Jones 4.

All EQ flat with a good bit of gain (around 3 o' clock I think). For EQ experimenting, all I really did was try out the shape buttons.

I was absolutey amazed. It was easily the best bass sound I've ever gotten. There was probably some particular tonal goal in the amp and speaker design and the engineers might have been reading my mind on that. It sounds absolutely perfect to me.

Trying it out in the store, I have no idea if it has enough volume for most of my applications or not, but the tone is definitely there.

Kudos to Genz for making an amazing product. Now I just have to save up some $$!

unfortunately, one person's "moderately loud" isn't the same as anothers. What type of music do you play and what type of venues? PA support?

you really ought to consider changing that clip light to indicate only true SS clipping rather than soft limiting. seems that way too many are confusing the two

Some other amps have no light and people are blissfully ignorant even when SS distortion can be heard.

Yeah, drummer volume is such a subjective matter without a decibal meter or other actual measurements. That makes it difficult to describe without data, but his dynamics aren't so great and he wails on his kit pretty well playing classic rock.

The single guitarist is very good about his volume control and we're trying to tone down the drummer a bit.

So far as playing out, that would be smaller bars typically with no PA support. I've used my 600 watt Carvin with 2x10 neo cabinet and don't have to push it at all.

With that situation in mind, it seems that a single 210T cab would work for most of my applications and then add another when the drummer gets excited.

Alternatively, the Shuttle paired with a 212 Neox might be a good do-it-all setup with some smallish weight sacrifice over the 210T.

Indeed. The NEOX212 is and really cool cabinet. Try the Uber212 if you get a chance. It is a thicker sounding cabinet.

ARG, YES PLEASE! Or maybe a two-color LED that lights yellow when it limits and red when it actually clips?? Even though I KNOW that the red light flashing briefly is likely just limiting, I have no idea how much farther I can turn it up without clipping.

I dont foresee much of any gigs this combination cant do. I have this setup and have done gospel concerts to coffee house jazz trios. I dont have any amp GAS at all. Im just debating now whether to keep the shuttle or my GBE 600. The shuttle was a back up while the 600 was in the shop, but Im in love with the 6.0 now. Im partial to the 600 because it goes to 2ohms and you can EQ the tone shaping. On the other hand, the shuttle is....well just the shuttle lol.
