Genz Benz ShuttleMAX 9.0 Now A Reality

Just to clarify, are you saying that the ShuttleMAX 9.0's tube channel will sound the same as the Shuttle 9.0?

Yeah, I'm confused. One post said the Max 9.0 will be the Max 6/12 preamp with 9.0 power.

The above post implies that the tube channel will be the 9.0's tube which is different then the Max tube channel.

I need clarification please.

I'm guessing the whole amp will be voiced the same as a Shuttle 9.0 with the exception of it's additional EQ and FET options but what do I know.

Thus giving it the ability to sound like it or sound further not like it.

yes.
It is like a Shuttle 9.0 with more flexibility.

What are the tonal differences between the tube sound of the Shuttle's vs. the tube sound of the Max series?

The MAX heads sound a bit more full to me than the Shuttle 3.0 & 6.0.

+1 The 6 and 3 have that attenuated low end baked in, the Max heads do now. The tube channel of the Max 6 and 12 and the shuttle 9 have much in common. The Shuttle 6 is a bit different down low, and the low end boost/voicing switch does not bring the 6 that close to the Max or 9 heads.

+1 I had a Shuttle 6.0 for about a year, then sold it and a Markbass F1 to get the Shuttle Max 12.0. The Max 12.0 was more full with a better low end than the 6.0 and also had this amazing 3D clarity which could be enhanced or tamed with how the eq is set.

My observation for clarification by the Genz team was this. There is a substantial increase in low end authority and warmth from the Shuttle 6.0 to the 9.0 and it seems the only differences between them are lowering the high pass cutoff by 10 Hz and upgrading the amplifier with the PHAT module having 50% more power and a beefed up cooling section. I think the Max preamps have that same high pass cutoff as the 9.0 which explains their improved low end.

In the same manner, moving from the Max 6.0 to the Max 9.0 would mean upgrading the amplifier with that same 900 watt PHAT module. This should give the Max 9.0 that same low end authority, warmth, and mojo that the 9.0 has with all the eq flexibility the Max offers (plus FET). There are some who are concerned they might be giving up that special vibe the 9.0 has if going to the Max 9.0 but the sense I get from hasbeen's response is that this is not the case. The Max 9.0 seems to incorporate the most desirable features from the Shuttle line into one no-compromise package. The user reviews and gig reports after the winter NAMM show as these new amps trickle out should be interesting.

I'll sort of agree, sideways that is. ;)

The Shuttle Max 12.0 has this 3D imagining quality to it that was Hi Tech (beyond Hi Fi) that twere kinda nice. All the while pleasing to the ear.

And the 12.0 can really push lowend loud into two 4 ohm loads. More so than a 6.0 fer sure.

That being said I prefer the Shuttle Niner. :bassist:

Nice, an upgrade option without sacrifice. Two 450W channels into 4 ohms each would not interest me after my 9.0 spoiled me with 900W at 4ohm. This seems like a smart move because I think most 9.0 lovers are with me on this.

However, a Shuttle 18.0 Max would be another story and probably make me pass out with excitement.:hyper:

....wait, that isn't coming next is it? I better find a soft seat before I check back in.

Yeah that was my question as well... not that I woule ever need that kind of power.. but am sure that someone here might... will there be a 9 & an 18.. like the 6 & 12?
