Genz Benz Streamliner Part 3!!!!

I ordered from YOMS last week and feel for those of you who have been waiting for so long. The worst part of my experience is that I literally live 5 minutes away from Genz Benz in Scottsdale. I asked if I might just be able to pick mine up since it is literally down the street. Unfortunately, evrything must be processed thru the dealer so, in order for my head to arrive 2 miles from where it will ship from, it must take a costly and time consuming detour thru South Carolina that makes my environmentalist hairs stand at attention LoL! It is what it is, but as a guy that gigs up to 6 times a week, I can't wait to get mine. Luckily, I love my Shuttlemax 6.0 so I shall take solace in that for now.

YOMS don't hold any stock worth talking about - they order from Genz when they get the customer order. I spoke with Mike there this afternoon - there is a s**t load of 900s and 600s bound for him at an intermediate depot - he expects them to be in his shop Friday latest. I got mine already since he only ordered the one for me. Since I put the word out he has ordered a ton of these for you guys. Looks like you will have them early next week. Supply and demand.

Did you order from a shop that gave the lowest price, or one that actually has a proven track record of great customer service?

I bought mine from Rocket Music, and got it exactly when I was told I would. And wasn't charged for it until it shipped.

Not GB's fault - imho the issue is with the dealer who low balls and the customer who shops based on price alone.

+1 Nostatic hit the nail on the head, squarely.

Man this thread has taken some interesting twists and turns for sure.

I ordered my Genz Benz Streamliner all the way from Rocket Music because my local Genz Benz dealer is a smugma. I got it at a very good price especially when you consider the shipping. I even went as far as to ask Greg to jump through a couple extra hoops for me to make the purchase easier for me and he did without as much as a whimper.

First off, let me say Rocket Music is excellent. They shipped my amp when they told me they would and gave me great service on top of that.

Second off, Genz Benz has no equal. They are delivering products that are miles beyond what anyone else is doing. Their customer service is second to no one. They are very helpful and informative here on TalkBass. I do not always agree with them, nor do they me but the integrity of this Gang is NUMBER ONE.

Next, I kind of got a funny feeling when the mention of this other store was brought into the mix. Not sure why but I just got a feeling.

And finally, this is only a Bass Amp we are talking about. If you can not wait, then you do not deserve the fruits of good labor. I understand the excitement, anticipation, and pure desire that we experience after gear but again it's only a Bass Amp.

Relax. :)

I agree with Redplanet 100%...GB is top notch goods and service. Unfortunatly, money dictates that I have patience with getting a Streamliner. Better in the long run I suppose, as more and more reviews in the next year will really help in my final decision. I am really hoping to replicate my Walkabout tone, as I had to sell it recently.
So far so good on the posative comments. Now...come on employment!

I called Mike at YOM today. I ordered mine last Monday. He told me then he would be getting them in 7-10 days. 10 days would be what Wed/Thurs depending on if Mars is in the right place in the sky. He made it sound like he had them coming in this week. I have never bought from him, but I'm in MN and never heard of his place till this thread. I called my local shop first and talked to them and basically telling them I would buy from them(200 bucks more), and to call me back and give me a date. I have yet to recieve a call. So at least someone wants my business.

So I'm not sure what Rocket Music is doing to make everyone so happy besides giving an exact date of ship or a bag of free peanuts, but that isn't gonna make me drop 200 more bucks on something. Just my 2 cents. I have my current rig and it works fine, I can wait for something good, I hope :)

I'll just cross my fingers and wait.

Called Ye Olde Music Shoppe two weeks ago. I was told to get in line.
If you want the head for the price he is offering, shut up and wait.
Otherwise, go to your local dealer and get it in 4 days like I did and pay a small amount more.

Looking forward to you guys getting your amps
With all this pent up emotion I'm hoping we can get an unbiased review. I know its hard to not be biased towards being overwhelmingly positive as you want it so bad to be the best thing since sliced bread.
So heres to you guys getting your amps & being real in the review.

How were any of the reviews you've seen 'biased' exactly? I've gigged the DB750, which is not an inexpensive OR lacking head for years, and have owned/gigged most of what's out there today. I thought I was VERY real in the review.

Genz Benz promised an amp that merged a few concepts of bass amp design: tube tone AND tube sag and/or 'give' to the notes yet with a solid state tightness, micro design keeping the weight/form factor on the light/small side and yet with a very solid and rugged design.

IMO/IME there's not another amp that does all the above in one unit. My Aguilar has the tube sag/tone but is heavy. The Walkabout I loved and gigged had the same AND the lightweight but not enough headroom. For ME, and YMMV, GB has merged some of my personal faves in one amp.

And I hadn't even considered using their products until this amp came down the pipe. All of my ventures to lightweight ampdom (markbass/epifani/gk/eden/ea) have ended with me running back to the DB750.

Perfect, love it, just what people need is a great review like this that can talk about what they love & what it lacks... good A\B comparison.

Sometimes human nature gets the best of us & we feel we need to justify our purchases vs. being real. With so much anticipation I'm just a little nervous we're going to have some over zealous reviews.
Your prior reviews are real, thanks & we appreciate them

BY THE WAY: If I grab a 600 for small gigs but want to use it on big gigs as a preamp\poweramp set up, which output from the 600 are we using? I'd like to use it as a preamp but don't want to steal the only Direct output. Could you use the EFX loop out only?
