Genz Benz Streamliner Part 3!!!!

Oh yeah, I'm tracking the order every hour. :D

Does anyone know if the STL-12T cab would be suitable for a portable/practice rig. I don't know what the freight would cost from the States to NZ for a cab but over here they sting you $1000 for the 12T.

That cab should work fine. The price you quoted seems steep. You can get the 6.0 and cab over here for around $1100.00.

Well I found out my Terror Bass was on backorder so I dropped it and just picked up an SL900. It should be here tomorrow! I CANNOT wait! I have a GK Fusion now, which I like but I'm thinking the SL will add another dimension to my sound.

Question for the class: I have a new GK Neo212 II (4 ohm), very light, good sound. Do you think this will be a good pairing for the SL or should I step up my game on the cab? I do like the fact that the GK Neo cab is so light but I'm willing to sacrifice a little more weight for some buttery good sound. What do you think?

+1000! .....and the Walkabout only has 1/4" Speaker jacks too. Dammit! That bit me in the arse when inadvertently I brought a Speakon cable with my Walkabout to a gig. I can be my own worst enemy when I decide to change things up for an odd gig.
In their defense, that's an OLD design, predating the current ubiquity of speakons by a fair amount, so that doesn't bug me as much... but the M3 is brand spanking new. *sigh*

Anyway, sorry for the OT. I'll stop now. :)

Im here !!
I can also respond to a PM if anyone wants.
I have used one 1288 Uber quad on a local gig and it did just fine.. And was actually louder than i thought it would be while keeping focused..
A pair is deadly...
Maybe not as loud as a pair of uber 410s.. but it still is very loud , punchy, fast, and articulate.. i almost always describe the Uber Quad 1288 as having a vocal quality to it.. like a smooth human voice...
I have not played fret-less through them yet.. but i would think that would be the cats meow..

The Streamliner SL900 through the pair has a wide yet open sound... and the cabs really bring out a nice vocal quality of a P bass mids 4 or 5 string....
Yet i think it would work even nicer with a extended range 6 string bass too.. I just dont play 6.. Only 5 strings.

You should find TBer SVTB15. He has 2 of the 1288's and the STM-900.

Well if you want a one cab solution and you want to try a GB cab..
An Uber410 is cool as well as a Uber212 . The 212 if you want more low mid grunt power.
1288s are very cool and the most articulate i think...but they are 8 ohm so you would need to get a pair to get the 4 ohm load that you are asking about..
Also dont forget the NEOX212.. It is a nice lightwieght cab that gets pretty darn loud and is articulate.. the Uber212 has more low end form what i understand..

I can't decide what cab to go with my SL-900. Right now I've been using a Thunderchild cab with either a Mesa Walkabout or an AI Focus head. I know I'm going to have to be really careful with that 4 ohm load if I use the TH with that beast.

I'm thinking about a 2X12 or maybe a 4X10. Opinions?

I'd love to sell you a new cab. However, the GK is pro product too. So with that being said, I never recommend getting new skis and boots at the same time.

One thing I can offer on this is GK info... both the Fusion and those new NeoII cabs are really big in the bottom. If you find you're pretty much running that rig flat, I'd go with hasbeen's suggestion and just plug the SL900 in when you get it before making any other changes. Otherwise, if you want something a lot more even in the lows, more of a significant alternative to the GK stuff rather than a modest adjustment, maybe one of the GB gurus here can recommend something. I can tell you just from hearing the vids on the SL900 it's not gonna' be as "modern" sounding as that Fusion (a good thing... no need to have more of the same stuff out there! :)).
