Very cool..
Doug John is a smoking player and nice and friendly guy.. Did he play his Pedulla?..

He has one of the old ones without the Neck stiffening bars which is real nice!!!
Him and i chatted alot about GB and Pedullas at bass player live last fall... We have the same bass from the same year...
So glad he is with Genz.. They make that bass sing!

Just got back from a Genz Benz clinic at Rocket Music. Got to hear Doug Johns playing through a STL900 into a quad and 115, whoa. Jeff Genzler is a cool dude. Can't wait for my 600 to arrive.

Daaaaang, I'm envious. I saw him live once here in Chicago and he's just amazing! Love his style, too--very musical and less "shreddy".

For the record, I believe those of you that purchased through other resellers, also received deep discounts (much lower than advertised) as well by entering the "talkbass" or other codes at checkout. Does this too, make them a "low baller" outlet? I'd say not. It's called competition in today's tough market.

If you do not have any dealing(s) with YOMS, maybe look past the comments between those of us that have in this thread. I encourage each of you to review all of my posts within this thread. You will see that I was primarily checking status with the others that freely chose to go with YOMS. Though only a few folks left ratings for them, they do appear to have a 100% track record from researching online - meaning no negatives. They were presented as a "Mom and Pop" shop that was "Old Skool"... Therefore, I can't help believe they would have more positive ratings if they dealt with on-line dealings as these other shops do and depend on to increase volume.

I suspect that some of you are a bit jealous with the fact that others of us paid less for a product you now deem you paid too much for since it's just an amp and that newness is wearing off a bit. Likewise, I'm a bit jealous since I don't have mine to date. Many of you took advantage of pre-sale offers at various outlets and therefore received the streamliner from the earliest batches - That's great news! I'm not bashing you for that. You were smart and jumped on the bandwagon when you did.

In a nutshell, if these type concerns are not brought up in the same forum/thread the company name was promoted in, potential new onlookers may not be aware of the issues they may expect to endure.

I have had email correspondence with Jeff Genzler, regarding my situation. One response from him in regards to me asking about the current lead time/backlog was "I’m sorry but I don’t have that information. Our products ship from an east coast warehouse to the dealers. I do know that weather has been causing havoc for all types of freight shipping over the past 2 weeks." I found his response interesting and thought provoking to say the least as it was received by me as a way to brush my concerns off.

For what its worth, YOMS is listed as an authorized dealer on GB's website. From a customer's point of view, they have an existing relationship with the manufacturer. If not, it's up to them to deal with per contractual agreements or lack of.

Once we take ownership of the product, it's now between us and the manufacturer if you encounter any warranty/service issues with said product.

In closing - The responsibility of qualifying and training distributors/resellers for the sale of a product falls on the manufacturer and its reps. If the manufacturer is not concerned about their image through some outlets, so be it. If they are, maybe its time to raise the bar a bit.

Thank you all for your reviews, concerns, and updates regarding this product release.

Now, let's "Talk Bass"...

There are no concerns other than someone who can not wait for their lolipop.

Your not getting what you want, when you want it, and there is going to be hell to pay for it.

Grow Up.

Yup... I'm pretty jealous of your continued waiting while I enjoy a piece of gear that I felt was worth the price I paid BEFORE being pleasantly surprised by it's versatility. Jealous indeed.

The more I play this, the more I find myself liking the smoothness. Over time I think I've gravitated towards a bigger sound and the SL definitely delivers that, but Genz did a great job of maintaining the clarity in the inherent voicing. My Warwicks get most of my playing time and, to my ear, the organic nature of their sound really shines. Now that I've figured out how to EQ it and work around the slight dip in the mids, I think I found a solid addition to my stable.

It sounds as though you have this beast dialed in, what are your current EQ settings? What cab are you currently running it through?

For me, I like a quick, punchy tone with lots of mids, so once I figured out my ideal EQ I got the mids AND the larger low end I was hoping for. Cab is an Uber 410, so plenty of growl there, and I EQ it like this:

The key for me was to back the lows down a bit, making the mids pop a little more. For the sake of EQing I left the gain and volume at noon, but there is a good amount of flexibility in the gain structure as well.

I wonder how the Genz would compare to my Eden. I love the warmth I get from the Eden, its just that its in a huge 60lb rack. I'd love the 600 for a small gig, with the ability to use it as a preamp to my poweramp for a big gig if needed.
Which output to use if you want the Genz to be just a preamp? They say repeatedly in the manual its okay to not have a speaker load.

Very cool! I understand about backing off on the Lows a bit. I found myself in that direction with my GBE1200 and 410T-XB2 cab.
