Genz Benz Streamliner-Pt 2

Amp looks GREAT Roger! I look forward to getting mine, and as always will take it through its paces early on with a variety of cabs and basses on my Youtube channel:bassist:

And, regarding people nitpicking your amps, like others, I think that is a positive. For me, it is fun to be able to really dig into the operation of every function on an amp, make a comment, and then get feedback from designers and marketing people almost immediately. That is very cool, and besides many of us learning the logic and basic design of your amps, it also, as you posted, gives you guys some feedback and 'free' market research as one of the inputs to your update and new products process.

I like it, even though I guess it can seem like your products are being picked on more than most. I think it is more of the case where you guys are one of the few companies that provides that sort of outlet for those of us that are a bit on the 'gear compulsive' side when it comes to how everything works.

The 'real' amp looks wonderful! GREAT design and look.

I agree with Ken..as a rule if you throw open your ideas with a desire for honest feedback to ANY public you can expect feedback, both positive and negative..whether that public is the bass playing community or students in a Social Studies class...people like to share their ideas on your ideas.

On the other hand if you don't ask for feedback(or don't care), you won't get as many responses..pretty simple stuff and evidence that GB know how to listen to their public..refreshing and motivating me to look seriously into a GB for my next amp.

Thanks

Mark

Love the pics. It looks much nicer with that metallic shine than it did in the earlier pics.

I'll be in a big dillema with this one. I currently have a GBE 500H that I love and it's going to a Genz live series 15" cab. It is nice to have the solid state and tube channels because I prefer solid state with my roundwound strung jazz bass and the tube channel with the flatwound strung other basses. The tube channel broke up pretty early in the 500H so I put a NOS Mullard AT7WA in there and now I have a simply beautiful sound.

I've been looking to get into the Acme flatwound cabs and I think the 500H might be a little on the short side of power with those. I think two 8 ohm flatwounds and the 900 Streamliner would be the ultimate, world ending rig for me. I just have to justify coughing up the trade up value on my current rig and consider losing a solid state preamp channel.

Nevertheless this amp look exactly like what many of us have been waiting for. Kudos to Genz for listening to their customers.

Thanks Ken. Regarding my "nitpicking" comment- I was really just sporting. I NEVER mind the feedback we get here. I've frequently PM'd people that have made "negative" comments on our product to get further input; we learn more from talking to people that aren't "enthralled" very often. With all the varied opinions present on this forum, I can't EVER recall a forumite being anything but courteous and helpful.

you know what Genz Benz?! I´m going to be your very new customer soon, going for the Streamliner 600 model. Never thought about buying an Genz Benz amp (i was looking for Gallien & Krueger) but this thread sold me.

Question: how many speakers can you plug into the 600? Any suggestions for good and adequate cabs? What makes more sense 4x10" or 2x12" or better both, or add 1x15"?

(my general band sound is more crossover, like Rage Against The Machine, Urban Dance Squad, RHCP, etc. .... sometimes i use effects like distortion/fuzz/envelope filter/wahwah)

Get an Uber 410 cab!!! The SL600 can hook up 2 cabs to equal a 4ohm load. (so, 2 8ohm cabs) The Uber 410 is a 4ohm cab.
The Uber 410 with the SL600 will sound killer for the genre you mentioned!!

+1 what he said with specific interest in the 900. Thanks!

Full specs not released yet. In general, a triple 12ax7 front end with 'simple' tone controls... bass, mid (with three switchable freqs'.. so 'quasi semi parametric'), treble, mute. Nice 'tube gain', post gain and master controls so you can dial in the amount of tube you want... clean to grind to snarl... and then control the output going into the EQ section and then the absolute volume with the master... nice... same as the Shuttle amps.

Same power section as the Shuttle 9 with what sounds like a revised power amp limiter section, and possibly a bit more meat in the low end.

From what I know about this power module, it is VERY impressive at 8ohms, and relatively impressive at 4ohms, versus other 500-600 watt micro's.

if we get enough request, I'll add 8 ohm Uber 4x10's to the line.
