Genz Benz Streamliner-Pt 2

Well, I've joined the party.
I almost always buy gear used, but the combination of Genz Benz sound/quality/service (I've got 2 GB amps now) and Rocket Music retail service - a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
I expect this to KILL with my LDS nEarful.

Cool! Yes, Rocket Music is the real deal... really enjoy Greg, and it is cool that he supports TB with his own sponsored site.

And yes, the first thing I though about when I saw the specs on this head was the 15/6 type cabs. That should be just perfect!

Me too.

Don's building me a new one with a more vintage look (tolex, cane etc) and I'm hoping the Streamliner has the tube tone of the Walkabout with more power and a less compressed low end.

If I dig the pairing I may have Don build me a second 15/6 for large gigs to take advantage of all 900W the Streamliner can put into 4 ohms.

It should thunder like my shuttle 9 does through my LDS 1515/66.
I am looking forward to hearing this head through Jonathan's
LDS when his funk band "Funkranomicon" is back giggin in my area. So I can get more G.A.S!:hmm:

I originally went with Genz Benz because of the foot-switchy goodness of the GBE series.
2 channels plus mix, plus the EQ shaping of Low / Scoop / Hi boosts.
Tonal versatility at my command, no need to turn around and tweak knobs.

What kind of foot switch control can we expect form the Streamliner?

If you are interested in that, it is the Max heads for you. The Streamliner is pure simplicity.... bass, mid treble... tunrn on and play... no voicing filters, no channel switching.... nuttin' honey. I actually like that!

The Max heads seem more of an evolution of the GBE heads to me.

Jared, I think you and I have been drinking from the same well. Don is currently building me a pair of tall 15/6's (with mirror image baffles....cabs will be stackable on their sides if I want to use two cabs), and I like the idea of driving either one cab at 8 ohms or two cabs at 4 ohms with a Streamliner 900.

The deciding factor for me whether to seriously consider purchasing a Streamliner 900 will be based largely on comments by the first group of reviewers (i.e., KenJ and others) as to the amp's tone characteristics....particularly, it's ability to provide thick tube tone ala Walkabout.

+1 I'm looking forward to the day Ken posts clips of the Streamliner on his Youtube channel. Ken has been amazingly consistent with respect to his sonic preferences, which provides a useful basis for product comparison.

I'm looking forward to doing that. I'm going to try to get my buddy TBer Matrok over here, since I am pretty clueless about pushing a tube pre for a more aggressive distorted tone... not really me and my basses and playing style don't really bring the best of that sort of tone out of a rig. He is a master at that tone (the John Wetton type thing), and I assume that will be one of the strong points with this head.

However, I'll give the clean tone a good go!:bassist:
