I had some tubes stored from previous amps an projects and really forgot what I had. I found an Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 EH in a box with no more than an hour's use and was purchased in 2006. Also found a NOS GE Jan 5751 and a USA made Tung Sol 5751. The EH is good but not as good as the stock tube in V1 slot. I tried both 5751's and while good the GE is darker sounding than the Tung Sol which really opened this amp up and made the bass tighter and more controllable. I am going to leave it at this configuration for now as I really like it. Clear, tight and articulate sounding.

It has been awhile since I filpped mine around but I believe I ended up with a Tung Sol 5751 in V1, stock tube in V2, and Mesa AX7 in V3. Love it, set bass around 11:00 and mids at 2.5k at around 3:00.....:bassist::bassist:

Philips NOS JAN 5751 in VI
Philips NOS JAN 12AX7 in V2
TungSol 12AX7 in V3

I eventually began getting a bad buzz and low volume and my blue LEDS went out...

Opened the lid and did some tube swapping. Found the V2 tube was causing the buzz and volume problem. Replaced with a second TungSol 12AX7. Sound is great. And the blue LEDs are working again ;-)

Im out on some dates with my band.. This bass is #1 on the play list with my Uber 115s and Streamliner head.. But Tomorrow Ill be using the SM9.2 with the Ubers at a Winstar date in OKLAHOMA..
The bass and amp are a killer combination

Let me know how it turns out for you. In mine, it made it so the tone knobs worked more like expected, and toned down the bass quite a bit without choking the treble excessively.

I can see where that would be worthwhile. My only fear is being a 600 instead of 900 would I still get enough volume for small to medium venues.

The STM 900 and über 115 is my rig right now and I'm loving it and seriously contemplating throwing another 115 on...let me know if you're heading towards Raleigh or anywhere on the Carolina's coast! I'm sure you won't part with Ave Maria, but I'd love to at least see you play her!

I previously stated I put a USA Tung Sol 5771 in V2 to tame the low end a bit. I was using DR Silver Star coated Rounds but since the D started going dead I finally put on a new set of TI Jazz Flats. I went back and revisited the tube roll and found the original stock sounded the best for these flats. I am so far happy with my Stock Streamliner 600.

Aged Horse, I was looking at the following tubes:
12AX7AC7-HG-plus, 12AX7AC7-HG, 12AX7AC5-HG-plus, 12AX7AC5-HG, 12AX7ACZ-HG-plus

Can you tell me your reasons for choosing a particular tube for V1, V2, V3 and of the above choices what do you recommend. I am happy with the stock tubes but want to find as much info as I can before I have to order some. I sent a NOS Tube dealer I am familiar with an email and asked why he no longer sold the Tung Sol 12AX7A and he replied he had sent back so many failures they would no long sale to him and he said "Go Ruby Tubes" . I do not want you to comment on the Tung Sol issue but mainly on the Ruby tube 12AX7A choices and why if you do not mind.
