No, they have nothing to do with the 3012, these are a driver we developed a while back with parameters specifically targeted towards a specific voicing. We are very happy with the balance of performance, sensitivity, low end extension, linearity, high frequency voicing, and reliability with this driver.

I'm sure I will spend some time with some of the new offerings, but for our needs off the shelf doesn't (generally) work well as we have some different target design parameters than other manufacturers do.

As a general note, stock drivers tend to offer decent average performance in average boxes for average products. Nothing wrong with this if your designs are pretty average, but IMO the bass market is just too competative (read as you guys are too demanding in your expectations) to design just average stuff. (no offense intended to anybody)

No offense taken here....just thinking out loud. Certainly I know GB would tweak whatever design to it's own parameters.

I do expect to see these drivers (either modded, or stock) in other manufacturer's upcoming products.

my first laugh of the day. :D.......thanks.

My problem is that when I'm playing bass through amp designs that I'm testing, my wife doesn't believe I'm working. Some days when I get home, she'll feel the callouses on my index and middle finger of my right hand and say "another tough day at the office?":bassist:

ok I used the Uber212 last night in a gig that covered Klezmer to Kidd Rock... The party was at a hotel in Alexandria Va... about 250 in attendance. I have toi say at this point it IS my favorite cabinet. I used the Shuttle 6.0 and my Smith with the preamp disengaged. The 6.0 set dead flat as well. All I can say is this canimet is a brilliant design and the build quality is amazing. I would love to hear the Uber210 under it.

I would think a pair could do ANY gig... From what is described in the tone area it seems as though it may be the perfect cab for me.. I will need to try one.. but i still have not tried a pair of neox112..
I want to replace my gs112s with something that has the same amount of huge bottom as the gs but with a mid that has more clarity and definition... from descriptions here the Uber 212 may be the one..

Do you know what type of wood the Uber cabs are made of?

When are you visiting NY? You should drive to the beach and play with some stuff. I think the Uber 212 is my favorite cabinet. The Uber410 kicks butt...however, for my tone and the Smith's the Uber212 is the perfect cabinet for me. It is tight down low and is fat up high. The 2 octave "G" soundsd like a bass not a guitar, how sweet is that.
I used my maple Smith saturdayin a double ballrom in an affair for 300 people and no F.O.H. support. I used the Shuttle6.0 and set it flat...no GLOBAL filters... the Smith with the preamp disengaged. It was big and fat sounding top to bottom. A pair of these driven by a Shuttle12Max will cover any gig period. As would and Uber410/U212 or a pair of Uber410's. The 212 is my favorite. I will try the Uber410/Uber212/GBE1200 this weekend if the venue doesn't change.
I feel like Genz built this cabinet for me.

Oh yes at this time one would do me fine... actually i found that doing huge gigs with FOH an good monitor i wind up playing lower than when i do a club gig...
So one would most like be great.. but 2 woooahhhh.... I like the front porting and handle location...
I wont be back to NY until summer as it stands now....


Does hasbeen or Agehorse know what type of wood the uber cabs are made.. maybe it was already stated in this thread.. just wondering if its birch or something else..

I saw where Hasbeen said Genz figured there were customers for the vertical format of the Neox 212 and the diagonal format of the Uber 212, so both would stay as-is in the lineup, but that still leaves me with a question: Was the diagonal format of the Uber part of the redesign specifically for "more punch and growl", or was it incidental and not related to tone? I ask because I am a fan of vertical cab stacking, and subject to tiny stage space, so I would rather have gone "taller" than "wider"- unless the tone really was at issue for the design.

I know they stated there was a symmetrical stacking capability they wanted to maintain with the rest of the Uber line. Going vertical and wide would add a lot of additional weight I would think, so maybe it's more a result of that. The NeoX series stuff is also all symmetrical and can be stacked perfectly.

sometimes, it is very difficult to desribe how a product "evolves" from concept to finish. This did start with simply trying to come up with a 2x12 that would fit the format of a 4x10. Once we decided we'd do it, we then decided to make it as "organic" sounding as possible.

In the end, the Neox-212T sounds more modern to me than the Uber.

You are dead on... I prefer the less modern tone of the Uber's. The Moder tone of the NEOx is amazing but I am an old school kind of guy
and organic is the perfect word fpr the Uber series
