And if you look at the specifications of most 12" drivers verses a similar constructed 10" driver, the 12s usually have a lower starting frequency response, along with higher wattage ratings. Just saying. That equates to something.

I have given up hauling 15s and 18s around and gone to 12s for that reason. I can get more punch and output covering the range I need from my basses with the newly designed 12" drivers these days. Personally I like B&C Neo Drivers, specifically for that reason. And using Schroeder cabs with my MG 800. In fact, running a dual 12 cab (one 12" is in a corner folded construction - 8 ohms) and a single 12 cab (8 ohms) and have SPL levels on the cabs of 103 db and 102 db, respectively. That added sensitivity is extremely beneficial when it comes to perceived volume levels.

You will not be disappointed. Give a shout if you find yourself wanting a 2nd 12-3! I've always found the the benefit stacking 2 12" cabs is exponential. I used to own 2 Genz-Benz NX2-112t cabs and it was the best tone I've ever had. I imagine that's even more the case with the 12-3's because of the line array effect.

The MG212T is consistently described as a more voiced rock cab, but still very clear with a high quality tweeter. The BA112-3 times 2 probably goes a little bit deeper due to more internal volume than the MG212T, and the mids and highs are very smooth; it's also described as a bit more balanced and versatile. Either choice I'm sure would be awesome, depending on your tone goals.

Then of course there's the one-cab vs. two-cab debate.

Could not agree more on your "stacking" comment. Received these honey's last Friday, and have been thoroughly enjoying them since. Had difficulty pulling the trigger (budget ... tho I always suffer on these types of personal purchases; not a value comment ...) but in the end, I needed something that would be my last thing (yeah, sure . . .) and certainly something that would meet my needs (tone, portability, match with existing BG Shuttle 9.0, etc.). Most importantly, a BIG shout out to Jeff G. for patiently answering many questions and helping with my decision. It's refreshing to have a guy who provides that level of customer concern and outreach. Big gig this weekend (PettyHearts tribute band) where I'll debut the rig. Appreciate the other inputs on this thread too - very helpful!

Sorry, been away and such... for too long....

I have a MG212T (here on classified for sale, btw) and yes it has a little more "rock" sound, but too me it has a great overall tone for anytime you want a punchy bass sound! I play country-western+rock/smooth-acid jazz/top 40' etc and it always deliver beautifully!

(side note: someone might be asking why I'm selling it then? I have several GA cabs and amps and at the moment I'm not playing much at all. The little I do calls for a single -smallish- rig most of the time... and I rather have some extra cash in my pocket than leave it there doing nothing!)

If you look through the thread you'll find no shortage of photos of Triple Array stacks. I'm told they are awesome. I've only got a pair, myself :$

Also, and sorry if this has been covered here before. And it probably needs to be answered by Jeff. The manual states that the input circuit in the Magellan 800 includes a "precision high order active high pass filter." What is the filter cut-off frequency? Is it adjustable in any way? Does this mean I can do away with the HPF on my pedal board (a Broughton - which has a variable frequency knob)? Thanks in advance.

I believe that has been covered in here at some point, but I'm sure Jeff will be happy to provide the details again.

As I understand it, the HPF isn't directly adjustable, but is applied differently between the two contour modes.

I have Run my 8 Ω Genz Uber 115 and 4Ω Genzler MG212 on my MG800 = 2.67 Ω.... . Its LOUD!!!! and actually worked well considering mismatched cabs . .I posted a photo yesterday somewhere on here i will post again..

Oh yes I’ve tried it many times. Let’s just say it was very fun.

Is anyone running their Genzler heads with pedals/effects our front? Do you fine folks find that the MG800 plays nicely with dirt pedals and other effects? I haven't had a chance to really stretch the legs on my MG800 due to a temporary loving situation (inlaws are staying with us for a bit).
I typically use a Mad Professor BBOD as an always on light overdrive pedal, then push that into a few more dirts, distortions, and fuzzes (plus delay/verb).
