Genzler Amplification Club

Looking for some feedback in Bass upgrades. After almost getting all my GAS money for a 2nd BA12-3 I have decided to upgrade my bass first. I have been using my trusty MM String Ray5 but have been very tired with the warpy neck every spring and fall. And, I've had this one for quite some time.... Overall though the sound has been great.

Choices between a Roscoe Classic JJ5 and a Sadowsky Metroline RV5. Both were pretty close but the shop only had DNA amps and cab to play through.

Playing a fairly eclectic mix of music, although lots of 60's,70's,80's, modern and newer country. Would love to hear feedback on your experiences with the Roscoe or Sadowsky with your Genzler rig.

I heard several Roscoe owners that have the BA12-3 Cabs and Genzler Head say that it is a match made in heaven. I have owned and tried everything form Ibanez BTB Premium's, Ibanez Prestige, Custom Warriors, Custom STR basses, and Custom Bacchus Basses and all have sounded amazing through my Genzler cabs and head.

I’m a Sadowsky guy but confess I’ve never played a Roscoe. I have a custom Sadowski P/J four string and a Satin Series four string. Both sound very nice through the Genzler dual BA12–3 cab setup I have, using a 9.0 Shuttle. I’ve used the Satin as my live ax for two gigs now and the bandmates love the deep and clean piano sound.

Thanks for the feedback. I went with the one that fit my hand and ear best. The neck on the Sadowsky worked better. It was tough, kept A/B ing back and forth. For anybody in the GTA, Dave at Club Bass is awesome! Here's my new addition. BTW, this combo IS the best I have ever heard. Can't wait for my next gig!

I will say that Mr Sadowsky agrees with your comments about the mating of his instruments and a Genzler Bass Array rig. Roger has 2 BA/MG800 stacks in his showroom and comments that those are their go to rigs for demoing their instruments.

I am booked up for all of November, from small to medium sized to one outdoor gig.(Renting a bass for that as it will be at or close to freezing) and still debating whether my Genzler will be outside or go direct. Looking forward to the match made in Bass Heaven for these gigs. The Sadowsky definitely sounds better with the Genzler VS the DNA 800 and single DNS 12. The only thing I want could possibly add is a 2nd BA12-3.

I am a Magellan 800 owner and have been a big fan of Jeff Genzler's amps since 2007, when I wandered into Gelb Music in Redwood City
and tried something called a "Genz-Benz Neo-Pack 3.5'" I was extremely impressed by its punchy and fast response, feather weight, and purchased it on the spot. It went missing for a few years but I recently found it in my cluttered storage attic. Anyway, I fired it up last night. Holy Syte! I can't believe how good it sounds. And it definitely has the Genzler dna of the Magellan. I can't believe how far ahead of their time GB and company were with this amp! And the original TAD (?) preamp tube is still working. Love the blue lights, and it looks like an internal blue light is for the tube (Jeff?). Anyway, here are some photos...

I guess with your rig they would not be able to see straight enough to throw anyway, so all is well.

Just did an outdoor Hurricane Harvey 1st Responders appreciation gig done by our City Public Officials in Beaumont Tx last nite. Several bands on a real small stage and a real circle jerk to move bands on and off with all the political officials. The Genzler MG800 and the two Schroedrer Cabs (one single 12 and one dual 12) were amazing. Every bassist was in awe of the sound and picked that rig over another Ampeg four 10 that was on stage. Nothing but kudos for my amp set up. And none of the bassists had ever heard the MG800 before or even knew what a Schroeder cab was. So we turned some heads last night and also honored the heroes of our area here in Southeast Texas.
