...Brilliant! Edit: is this a Facebook leak? The cab does not appear anywhere else yet.
...
My understanding is the cab is officially announced and will ship real soon, with commemorative editions being first available. Dealers will receive the cabs projected mid-July. Model BA210-3; there are pre-orders up but probably not many listings yet.

Well, oh crap! from me too. I really want to try the Bass Array cab. I thought I had the cab side sorted, and to some extent I have. The One 10 is the perfect practice and small gig speaker for me. It works really well with the Magellan and adds some nice colour at low volumes for an old school sound. But...

I am going to start playing upright again soon and I'm not sure the One 10s will cut it. The old-school colour I like for home and rehearsal use might work against what is needed on a gig. I wish I could be more certain about this, but I have some issues with the way our band PA is being used and these must be sorted before I can be sure about "my" sound. But that is another line of discussion.

So here is my issue. I gigged very successfully with my previous big band using a Shuttle 6.2 12T combo * (no PA issues as I did not use it). It had more than enough headroom, and a flatter response than the Streamliner, and this flat response suited my BSX EUB. So my line of thinking is that the Magellan head into a Bass Array 12-3 would be even better, with more mids and an escape from tweeters which I have never liked much in bass cabs. Now here is the but: everyone seems to be talking about using 2 or 3 of these cabs to get a great sound. How far am I going to get with just one? Apart from the expense, I just do not have the storage space or domestic agreement to keep adding to my set of options. One cab would have enough volume for the big band, extrapolating from the Shuttle experience, but would it have the dispersion or great sound that everyone is raving about?

* I only sold this because I stopped gigging for a while. A great little combo that never let me down, although sometimes it needed, and I used, a second GB speaker.

I like your current rig. I'm sure it has a great tone and vibe with the Magellan 800.

But for your EUB considerations, you may want to check out the BA12-3. It is a very "true" and "uncolored" cabinet which would be ideal for a lot of your described needs. I don't think you'd have any issues with using a single BA12-3 cab either.
I've just been corresponding with a great player (Jesse Williams) who has been playing several gigs with Johnny A., and he's using just one BA12-3.
His comments:
"It's very musical sounding across all frequencies. I was on the road this weekend with Johnny A. We play full volume! 200 seat rooms. It was perfect. Johnny commented on how loud it was and how good it sounded."

There are several other players on TB playing a single cab that may comment as well. A single BA12-3 will make a distinct differenence in dispersion over a more conventional design.

I hope this info is helpful.

+1 As I mentioned above, I had a doubling gig this past weekend, and the BA12-3's sounded very natural and organic on upright.

I do not double, but the friends of mine who do and have tried the 12-3, love it.

Regarding the Bass Array 210-3, I had to bite my tongue on this for a while, but I've had the opportunity to put this through its paces recently, and I'll post a real review later on this evening.

A pair of those would work for me 'Big Time'!

with the tens off center...Does this counteract their phase cancellation?...Obviously no point in turning the cab as the mid drivers would no longer be a vertical array.

There is always some phase summing or cancellation when 2 like drivers are in the same cabinet. The BA210-3 cab, along with the response you'd expect from dual 10 speakers, is a much "broader" sounding cabinet. This is due to the off-set 10"s in balance with the line array. It is a different cabinet with a different feel than the BA12-3, and offers those that like 10's over 12's an opportunity to take advantage of the Bass Array design.

Wonder what the BA 210-3 on top of a BA 12-3 would be like? Wonder if possible...

We knew going in with this design that this question would be asked and certainly you can't hurt anything by using both styles of cabs together. My personal recommendation is to keep apples to apples.
I have played the BA12-3 on top of the BA210-3 and lived to talk about it, though. :bassist:

Finally... the cat is out of the bag on the BA210-3. I can now talk about it without worrying about Jeff sharpening the end of a toothbrush and shanking me. :)
I got to try out the BA210-3 very early in the production phase. Unless much has changed since I tried out the cab I think Jeff ended up going with... This is a must try for anyone that prefers 10's. It was a VERY impressive cab. It would work very well as standalone for most small to mid-sized gigs. It has plenty of mid-focus without being nasal. For anyone whose primary worry is "cutting through", I would put this cab at the top of your list to test. A stack? You'd be unstoppable.
It is definitely different from the BA12-3, but that is due mainly to speaker size. You can tell that they are of the same family.
Personally, I used to be a 10" speaker guy, but as my sound changed, I grew to prefer 12". However, if I showed up at a gig and the BA210-3 was the backline, I wouldn't be disappointed in the slightest.

The BA210-3 is 4" wider. Would be possible but may (or may not) look/work better with 12 on top. The 12s with 12s and 10s with 10s is always the best scenario IMO.

My first thought on this cab if used by itself was to turn it vertical with the MG800 on top - nice small footprint - BUT, maybe it's not a good "idear" due to the mid drivers no longer being vertical. If using a pair of them, it would make sense to set up horizontally as shown in pic.

Discuss.

I/we had the opportunity to test beta versions of these cabs 210-3 and we LOVE/d them! I'm a 10" guy (gasp!) and even though I've been gigging with my MG212 (and sometimes one A12-3) which it is the best 2x12 I ever played with, I'm very excited to get one of these (maybe two) in my herd! I like how they punch and perform… the whole bass spectrum sound is very well present with harmonics jumping out of the cab… :hyper:

Full info will be up on our website later next week. As always the TB community is on the cutting edge of getting the new info fast.
Hard to keep things on the "QT" around here.;)

Well. ...all this is no help what so ever! I'm a 15" guy! ! :crying::crying: :woot:
I was for decades until I hear a properly tuned Faital 12" driver. One can close their eyes and not know it is not a 15. I A/Bed a 15" 3015 and the Faital 12 just to hear the difference in low end. Low end was close but the Faital was easily perceived as more efficient. Some of this could of course be cab design, but I am a 12" convert after playing nothing but 15's all my bass playing life of about 45 years.

So can we now hope that the 115/4-3 is on the way to complete the family? Sort of a Papa Bear, Momma Bear, Baby Bear sort of deal? Inquiring minds want to know!

This has been discussed a few times since the Bass Array design was first introduced. My thought is that the depth of the LF response from the BA12-3 is so good that it's hard to see what the benefit might be with a 15" version. Certainly there would be a 15" "flavor" to the tone. I'm not saying never but....

With the new BA210-3, there is just a different character to the response with the dual 10" drivers as compared to the single 12" in the BA12-3.
The BA12-3 providing more depth and LF extension but the BA210-3 delivers more "pop" and quickness to the LF and a different low mid blend to the line array component. This discussion is beyond specs and more about the "flavor" of how different size drivers reproduce these frequencies and the width of their sonic footprint......if that make sense.

I do like your Papa Bear, Momma Bear analogy --- I was think of something like that just last night. For now the Papa Bear is 2 x BA210-3.
