I played the Line array yesterday at the store in town. GREAT cab. They only had one of them I would have to buy 3....
They have the MAGELLAN 212T coming back soon from loan.. ...
I do mostly rock , pop and rnb, country gigs. I think a MAGELLAN 212T with an additional MAGELLAN 112T for larger gigs and @ 2.76Ω would best fit all my needs.

Jeff has hinted that the array works nicely on top of the Magellan 212T... might be worth a try when the loaner comes back.

When im home I do a mega church gig. .i've used the MG800 as a preamp for IEMs and it slammed!!

When i like something i tend to use it for years and years. .. I stick with what works and don't stray.. I have been using either one or two of my older Genz Uber 115s... They are fantastic cabs!! I have been using them for years and years now.. And they are still in extremely good condition.. I am used to the way they respond..

I sort of like a little more vintage sounding cab 90% of teh time.. Thats why im thinking the Magellan.. My friend has the older genz neox 212 which sounds pretty good. Im thinking the 212t could do as well and maybe even better... I've done a few arena size gigs with only one Uber 115 and mic'd cab... ( usually and RE20) .. .In theory The Magellan 212T should deliver more than that uber 115 .. That could make it a cab that i would use on 95% of gigs.. Put it in a road case and its a One Box gig.. and easy enough to slam on most home gigs too.. Add one magellan 112 and it will do anything.. Even a loud metal gig (which i never do) ...

Jeff has hinted that the array works nicely on top of the Magellan 212T... might be worth a try when the loaner comes back.

I would like to let you know at the first place, that I'm not expdrienced amp owner. Laney 165W 15 inch combo when I was 17, than Ampeg Micro VR/Eden EX110 cute-stack at 31. I wanted to upgrade and get some lighter, smaller head. And this Bass Array cab! So after weeks of reading and mailing with Jeff Genzler personally (he is a kind guy) I bought Magellan and 1 BA 12-3 cabinet.

I am really suprised! I think this rig changed my understanding of what good amplification means. I like the neck pickup on my bass with it - really woody sound!

I've recorded a demonstration. The equipment was Zoom H4n stereo field recorder. Magellan + Bass Array at living room volume. Recorded from 50 cm (20 inches) distance. 3 unisono bass lines in loop. First one clean, other two layers overdriven on 2 different distortion pedals. Preamp's EQ set flat - demonstrating both contour shapes on clean and dirt channels. Last loop is EQing with both MXR M81 Bass Preamp and with Magellan's tone stack.

The Bass Array is a great cabinet for overdriven and distortion. Really provides more detail of the textures and harmonic content with out harness.

Kirk, I think the Magellan 212T would be a great cabinet for your needs. Has the big forceful low end with a great "rock" mid throat. Many players have called it a vintage/modern vibe. The close proximity of the stacked 12" drivers does a lot for this.
With our experience of creating the UBER 212T (with diagonal driver orientate) and the NEOX series with the stacked alignment, I much prefer 12's in the stacked alignment. I know you've been lovin your UBER 115T's but you may want to take a closer look at the MG212T at some point.

With our experience of creating the UBER 212T (with diagonal driver orientate) and the NEOX series with the stacked alignment, I much prefer 12's in the stacked alignment. I know you've been lovin your UBER 115T's but you may want to take a closer look at the MG212T at some point.

The thing that i liked about two UBER 115Ts is the VERTICAL .. It is at chest level,, and i dont get the problem with 410s in a cluster,,, That phase shift or what ever it is.. Comb filtering? I hear it on all 810s and 410s... They work but they have never been my thing.

That is why i instinctively agree with you on the Vertical 212 layout.... Im thinking about Jan or February..

Glad you like it. Yes, the overdrive is over-drawn for me with this rig.. ;-) I'll maybe do another demo later. Just one short riff with some favourite clean settings and dirt settings - recorded synchronously with mic and Magellan's DI output. Then will post the separate recordings and a mix of line and cab recording.

Haha, the fun only begins. The sad part is, I can't sell my former Ampeg head... It only came alive with the Bass Array cabinet. I tried it just few minutes ago only directly the bass without any effects. 150W of WAARRMTH!

And the Magellan/BA combo is also great for hi-fi mono listening. I was trying how the AUX in on the back side of amp works and ended up just listening to some albums from my flac player. New Nick Cave, Neurosis and vinyl rip of old The Cure record... Fills the room with almost audiophile experience. It really doesn't matter that it is mono (the AUX in connection sums the stereo signal from the player nicely). If the mix/mastering of an album is done right way, it should sound great in mono too. Or maybe better..

I absolutely love mine. My band does a pretty wide mix of country, rock, and pop, and the 212T sounds great with all of it.

it really is an amazing cab. I also play acoustic guitar (modern fingerstyle) and tried plugging my Lowden into my bass rig and was floored at how good the BA12-3 sounded with my acoustic. It was literally so good that I sold my acoustic amp. I don't need it any more.

I'd be really curious to see how two of them would sound as small PA cabs... I'll bet they would be outstnding

Jeff, the Magellan is my current favorite gig head. But, I do use an external high pass filter and eq. Any chance we could see an amp similar to the new mesa D800+ that comes standard with an adjustable highpass and extra semi parametric eq? I really prefer the the Magellan in every way to the mesa but, those are features that many of us suggested way back before any of these amps came out. Actually, the extra eq and hp with just a single tube preamp section instead of the other two would be even better. Just a suggestion, thanks for listening. Keep it up. ........oh hey, how about a ceramic bassed sealed cab? !
