I think you will find this combination produces a little more top end than the BA210-3/BA12-3 combination. The little 2.5" drivers in the BA10-2 certainly have more top end extension.

I provided my rig of doom to a multi-act/musician gig at a local watering hole on Saturday night. I enjoy doing that once in a while, so I can hear what my rig sounds like from out front. It KILLED! It just filled the entire bar with bass without any FOH required. Musicians and non-musicians alike marveled at the tone and easy volume. I could have easily done this gig with one of the BA12-3's, but two was even better no doubt!

Don't know what I was looking at here, but she must have been cute!!

Curious as to if anyone has compared the Genzler BA12-3 to an AudioKinesis Hathor 1203?

Question about pushing these cabs. I am always conscious of what my cabs are telling me and have never been one to push a cab to the breaking point. I don't yet know what these cabs are capable of yet.

So with my passive jazz bass and set to clip on only the hardest note, I have never been past 9:00 (using one, two or three BA123).

That has always been enough for any situation.

So for the MG 800 users (using the BA cabs), what volume range do you use? How far can this knob go?

I didn't get anywhere near pushing these to the limit. I drove my BA12-3's with my Monique 700 Tardis, and I never had to to turn the line level knob past half way, and that was with the line-level knob pushed in! (If you pull it out, it boosts the output level by 3 or 4 dB (I forget). When my friend Marty was playing his Fender Jazz through the rig, I had to turn it down below half way because the bass volume was more than required to sit in the mix.

Yes, indeed. The BA12-3 is more warm/round, and the 1203 is a tad more clear/defined. Both are nicely full in the low end. Different flavors of great!

I'm looking for some specific input on the BA12-3 cabinet vs. the Magellan 112T. I've read through the thread and listened to the videos but I'm still not quite sure which one is best for me.

I have the Magellan 800 head (of course) and play active jazz basses with both flats and rounds. I dial in a modest amount of Contour B to tame the aggressive mids in other cabinets, but I'm not looking for a "vintage" sound. Smooth jazz is what I mainly play, with a bit of funk and fusion thrown in.

I'd like to know which cabinet has the smoothest mids and high end. I'm not interested in grit, gank, grind, honk, etc. I don't slap, so I don't want scooped either.

I'm looking for smooth, balanced, non-aggressive mids and highs. My suspicion is that the BA12-3 would be closer to what I'm looking for, but I've heard other cabs with mid drivers that were way too mid forward for my taste.

Any input would be appreciated!

By the way, that BA10-2 combo looks awesome...it's on my list!

For my two cents, the BA has the smoothest highs of any cabinet I've ever heard. It's incredible really. Now, everyone seems to say the the BA is mid forward, but to my ear it's not mud forward as much as just perfectly balanced. If anything the generous lows offset that perfectly. From your description it certainly sounds like the BA us what you're looking for.

I'll chime in as well. Never played the 12-3 but I do have a Magellan 112/212 stack. I do not find the tweeter to be very invasive or constantly present unless you set the EQ up for it to be. It's a smooth tweeter that gives you presence and high end extension, but it never dominates the woofer. Even when I stack both cabs, I have both tweeters turned up to 50%. It's never clanky or harsh. I have sometimes been playing and wondering if somehow the tweeter was accidentally turned off before the set, but then played a slap passage or some aggressive finger style and been reassured that it is definitely on and doing its thing.

If you're only getting one and don't need the extended highs of a tweeter, the 12-3 is probably a better choice. Like you, I play some smooth jazz, but I also play a lot of 70s/80s dance and funk music, so I wanted cabs with a tweeter. I'm glad that the Magellan tweeter stays out of the way until you need it though, it's a very responsive cab.

I want to give a gig report from this past Sunday night. We travel alot and help with music and such at various churches in our area. I was asked to come and play with a church that was small and would hold roughly 80-100 people. So I took my Genzler 800 and just one 12-3 Array along with my new Warrior bass. I didn't even get to really stretch the legs on this setup. Anyways, at the end of the service he asked for the band to come back up and in front of the whole congregation he asked for us to do a couple more songs. He then proceeded to tell the congregation that he had to hear that bass a little more before he let us leave lol. The Genzler setup and Array cabinets simply kill it and put out a tone that is so present and pleasing. I've traveled and played with some big Gospel bands and this Genzler rig is the best I've seen anywhere. Everyone compliments it after I play.
