Genzler Amplification Club

I would like to see a 2x10 or super 1x12 cab that sounds full , deep and punchy with good rock attack..
That could be used as a FLOOR MONITOR style cab that angles upwards. ..
Even an FRFR type cab for those that use things like a Helix or Kemper modeler/ profilers

Is it a bass knob or a tone knob? I almost always have my tone fully open.

If you still aren’t cutting through - double check you didn’t cook one of the mid/tweeters this will kill a lot of the top end if that’s the case (unlikely but possible). Don’t be afraid to use the drive channel. A little hair on your signal may sound obnoxious solo but sweeten up your tone and cut through a mix nicely in a group setting.
Okay so you terrified me and also gave a Great point! lol I sure hope the tweeters are working. what’s the best way to test them you think? The one cab is brand new so I doubt that’s it.... bbbbuuuutttttt one issue that got me nervous is I was running one single 15” for awhile and while I never needed to ever crank it cause with the Megellan 800 head, maybe the tweeters aren’t working. Damnit this is the first week to I decided to finally quit lugging my one cab and head home to fiddle with in between rehearsals. I always played it at home at low volumes cause I’m just in love with it but I now just settle for the fender rumble little guy for prac amp. But I don’t think my tweeters are shot I think I woulda noticed them not working when I played at bed room volumes. It’s only at band levels things don’t cut through, and The my jazz cuts through Great.

You pointed out something right on the head with me. I love the first channel! To me it the best and same for the contour. The first channel works well with a fender jazz cause I think I’m the mid scoop nice added thud makes the jazz just sound more mean then normal. But the Spector I think you nailed it even though I don’t like the second channel as much at band levels I did try the second channel with the Spector and much to my surprise the band liked that tone a ton as well. I had never busted it out with the band till just one day decided to.

with the Spector Euro having such deep bass “and I have my tone knobs always wide open” I’m not sure why it seems like the bass knob opens up everything like a tone knob to me. I know that the Spector is touchy and I’m running the hyper luminal compressor as well so all in all, I’m hoping it’s still me needing to learn how to dial in each bass. The jazz bass is figured out. But it’s funny man you mentioned that second channel cause I just don’t prefer it at bedroom volumes. I didn’t mind it at band volume and I’ll have to try it next rehearsal with my fx an see if that really helps cause that very well be the answer! “As long as my tweeters aren’t fried! Now I’m guna worry till next session lol and I live like 45 min from where i play lmfao” I think I’ll be good on the tweeters! Hopefully

I think that may be a good idea to have channel one be for the jazz and 2 more for the Spector the more I think about it with the darkglass preamp inside the Spector as well the two channels are pretty much perfect for each bass. I like my jazz to have a little more thump them normal which channel ones gives you a nice mid scooped punch. Then channel two cuts the bass an highs a little which would in theory help tame the lows of the Spector and help those fix like filters and synths phases all that to cut through more easily! Good call man we will see I’ll report back!

I also know I like to sit back on neck pickup a lot all the way along with the compressor that could be muddying things up to. The hyper luminal is a very good but a lot goin on compressor! But as mentioned if I go to much to the bridge position I get that metal kinda slap sound when you play with fingers and I def don’t dig that tone. Unless slapn I want it to be deep, I’m a tone snob I know I was on guitar. But I’m learning more an more my ear is leading me the right spot slowly I’m on a all genz rig atleast!

honestly I just hope I didn’t buy the wrong bass for the Job as well I’m
Never parting with the amp. But the Spectors looks did have an impact on the buy. I didn’t reallt realize they are metal bassists but as mentioned I think they are versatile enough to do what I want it to! I just think I need to spend more time with compressor and the eqs of bass and head. Bass tone is a tough one, I thought it was much more simple then guitar but it has its own sound to chase all its own lol

My bass has a Darkglass pre in it and I've been using channel two for the most part. Granted I've been running my pre flat for the past two weeks to get more familiar with the amp controls and tones away from the on board EQ.

I also use the hyper luminal. I was messing around with the clean channel some tonight as I've been test recording to a prog song with a lot of genre changes (funk, bluesy hard rock, metal, soul) mainly to see if I liked it more.

My takeaway is that it was pretty hard to tell in the full mix between the two when playing softer sections and I believe I liked the harmonic color of the drive channel just a touch more.

I've been liking mids around the 700-800 region.

That’s prob what I should do, good idea, run my Spector flat an learn the onboard eq more and then do the same with the on board eq. The hyper luminal is just going to take time to figure out there’s just so much going on but I love it. It’s pretty hard to make it sound poopy with that pedal
No matter the setting!

I never dime the controls on any of my Spectors, just no need for me. And vol is not dimed either. I play many varieties of music with my Spectors. And don't think my USA NS4s were ever meant for only metal. In fact don't play hardly any metal.

I just downloaded a dB meter on my phone ran some music through the cab and made sure they were about the same output. They are wired in pairs so if one did go out - two will be much lower ( you will still get bleed from all the other speakers). Unlikely again but it did happen to me early on and I have to say Jeff Genzler looked after it no problem. Customer service is second to none and it’s good to know if you do ever have a problem - they stand by you and look after it.

hopefully just some knob turning will get you where you need to be.

This was a fun experiment today. Sounded good to me.

Let's continue the #TBT fun with this combo (which sounds [warm and] awesome!)

So just to be clear you are talking about the front little tweeter like speakers? sorry if i misundetstood but i want to make sure I got this. You are saying this is how you checked to see if those speakers were working? and where did you plug your phone into? Im interested to see how this test worked, right now I dont get it but I am fairly new, if you could explain how you did the test a little more in depth my newbness would appreciate it. I dont want to hurt my baby! love my rig to much!

I am assuming you just used the aux out on the head?

I have the Euro 5 with the darkglass pre in it. from what ive read they are night and day. sorry to get off genzler gear! but this is kinda how to make info on how to make all makes and model basses work out with the genzler heads and cabs. Shows their true versatility

@PhishPhan22 --- thanks for all of your info above about your set up and requirements. As we've communicated several times over the past few months via email about your set-up and needs, I'm pretty confident that when you are discussing your clarity concerns, it may have more to do with various instruments and perhaps your effects grouping, etc.
As I know you just received your second BA15-3SLT from our dealer, I'm confident there is no issue with the cab or array specifically, but as @Loring mentions, you may just want to use a music source and listen to some Full Range music so you can compare the 2 cabs individually --- sitting next to each other.
If you run a signal into the INPUT of your amp from a phone or other music source you should easily be able to hear the mids and highs coming from the Array's.
Set the MG-800 EQ FLAT, with the BLUE CONTOUR at noon position. Play music through cab 1 by itself and then right next to it, cab 2. They should sound the same.
I think the simple "listening test" would be sufficient so you are assured both cabs sound the same. BTW --- the Ba15-3SLT would make an awesome PA cab, for sure.
If you'd like to get back to me via email again I'm happy to go over this with you.
I hope this is helpful.

As usual thank you jeff for giving your input and everyone else as well. I think I just need to spend more time with my gear and use that second channel.

Newb question but when using multiple cabs do you daisy chain them or go from one out directly to head one from each cab?

Gonna see if I can figure out how to use the 12-3 IR today in Reaper. I still like my Ampeg 8x10 IR but it is quite murky and usually results in me blending in the DI signal.

Would prefer a uniform cabinet sound if possible so hopefully this gives me some top end sparkle without being annoyingly icepicky like the 4x10 IRs I have.

I expect this is very accurate. I also play acoustic guitar - modern finger style and singer/songwriter - and have used my BA12-3 with acoustic guitar a good bit. Generally, in the past I used high quality PA speakers. The BA12-3 sounds heavenly with my Lowden.

theres is no difference ohm wise or power wise and either way is fine - I daisey chain so it’s one less thing to disconnect when using headphones...
