Bookmatched black walnut case. Heavenly! I already have a Gollihur combo version of this but I love this head so much, I got another to leave at home in the studio.

In other news, the new BA10-2 S2 is AMAZING! Extends deeper and higher than the old BA10-2, with a smoother response overall. I might be hearing a touch less harmonics than the old one—but the overall sound is smoother and I really love the higher and lower extension. It sounds fuller and richer. The old and new BA10-2 cabs together sound great!

But the overall sound is smoother and I really love the higher and lower extension. It sounds fuller and richer. The old and new BA10-2 cabs together sound great!

Both cabs are crossed over at 1.6kHz. Any new purchases will have to wait until after the holidays. I normally use a BA10 with a BA12 for the added low extension but it would be nice to A/B the new S2 cab with the original.

....but Wow, an even smoother response??!!

yeah, the new BA 10 just sounds fuller top to bottom. Pretty amazing.

shows 1.6k as the crossover


looks like the differences spec wise are:
-series 2 is 2lbs lighter
-increased lower frequency response to 48hz (from 55)
-improved sensitivity to 97db (from 96)
-300 watts compared to 250

Plenty of punch and presence in my setting! I add a second straight BA12-3 for shows and the audience swims in juicy bass tone :cool:

For full disclosure: We are only a 3 piece band (drums, guitar, bass) and my guitarist is a rare breed that understands the concept of sharing sonic space for the greater good instead of caring too much about "his sound".

if he’s using distortion- I’d go BA cabs. The paper cone mid/tweeter array handles distortion tones really well without getting fizzy. The 12 or the 15 will get to the low notes and I use my 12’s regularly with my low B… I would go with 2 of the 15’s in this case (or maybe 3 of the 12’s which what I’m actually using).

I hadn’t considered the Bass Array line but was watching some demos last night (Nate Navarro?) and those seem like a great idea for someone using a dirt. My Berg HD’s sound great but what makes them special to me is the tweeter…..which also makes them less than ideal for dirt.

I would think a pair of the 15’s would be amazing for his needs and be pretty loud.

The only downfall is now I want a pair of 12’s myself. I was thinking about coming out self imposed retirement from music and my somewhat recently surgically reattached bicep has no desire to move the 80lbs HD212 anymore. :laugh:

Circling back on this as it’s a question a few folks have had. The 350 and a 12 can absolutely handle decent sized bar gigs. Carried this room with no issues and a packed house.

Hey all! I’ve been loving my 12-3 SLT for the last few years, but I figure it’s high time to get a matching Magellan head. Not that I don’t enjoy my Eden WT300, but it’s FAR more EQ than I’d like to have to deal with anymore and I’m preferring a more “vintage” type sound these days with tight lows, present mids, and subdued highs. The prospect of leaving the EQ flat and pretty much using one knob with the B contour to get what I want sounds AMAZING. I’ve listened to countless samples and know for sure I’ll get what I’m looking for with the B contour, however, I’d read multiple mentions of also using a touch of the drive feature to add in a little character alongside the B contour which sounds like more of a good thing to me. My dilemma though is that I haven’t played out in a long while and if I do end up playing out in the near future I’ll more than likely only play small to small-medium locations. Due to this lack of power requirement and high efficiency of the BA cabs I can only imagine the MG350 will be more than adequate for my needs. Will I miss the drive feature to blend into the B contour? Am I underestimating my power needs and should go for the MG800 regardless to never run the risk of running out of power? I’m of course not opposed to adding a second (or third) cab if I need to pump up the volume. I’d love to make a trip to The Bass Shop Seattle to try in person but won’t be available to make the several hour drive for a few months. Also, obligatory rig photo!

I have both and I do love the drive channel on the 800 but…
I am surprised how awesome the 350 is.

I would go with the 350 and with the money left over get a genzler 4 on the floor. Way more options that way.
