I can't say anything about the design, but my typical gig night has the amp on for about 6 hours straight, muted either with my tuner or the mute switch on the amp during breaks.

My drummer is a RALLY LOUD drummer and I didn't have to turn the Master up the past 1/4 of the way up. Strange, but in a good way, since I usually had the master on the Shuttle 9.0 past the half way point. Here's a pic of how it was set last night.

Similar to FunkySpoo, my first gig with the Mag 800 was Friday and it went great. For the first time in a while I had people coming up to me (including band mates) and telling me how great the bass sounded. I have people compliment me as a player but it’s been a minute since several people all raved about the sound. Very happy with the Magellan. Glad I made the switch.
Ran the blue contour all night down between 9-11 o’clock.

ETA: Forgot to mention, I picked up a footswitch on the way to the gig and utilized the drive channel. The drive channel sounded surprisingly good and got a good bit of use during the gig.

It's totally fine to leave the amp in if you prefer and just mute the signal. How ever you'd care to run it is fine within the design.

picked up a series 1 BA12-3SLT yesterday for a great price just to try out and I am floored. I was a bit hesitant because I typically play with some dirt and I generally like 15's with no tweeter, but this sounds great! Not harsh with dirt or anything. but now I am left wondering if I would like the 15-3 even more.... hmmm

you will have to grab one and find out lol! Of those that have 12’s and tried the 15 - most prefer the 15. It has a greater speaker area and is a little more efficient- I hear it is a little more low freq biased.

I run multiple 12’s which does both of those things as well (more low extension and more db) but is more modular.

different prefs for everyone. If I was going one cab - it’d likely be the 15.

Add a 15. They work well together.

After owning my Magellan for 7 or 8 years last night at practice I ran it with the B contour at about 1 o'clock and, unsurprisingly, it sounded great. Playing a P with flats and the drive kicked in I had a nice grindy tone when needed or turning the tone knob down nice classic P tone. Pretty cool. I had used the B contour plenty of times just never over 11 o'clock or for an entire 3 hour rehearsal. EQ was mostly flat except a slight bass bump.
Love this amp.

If you haven’t, try a BA series Genzler cab. BA 15-3 SLT is what I have and should knock your socks off! Just a suggestion and my 2 cents.

Pretty good landing. There’s not much you can’t do with what you have there. Nice bass. Good effects/modeling. Great amp. Nice cab. You’re good to go. Now get practicing/plying and avoid any more GAS. Your gear is enough.

Thanks! Possibly in the future if I ever played out but right now this is purely weight based. This 1x15 Rev is less than 25lbs on my scale. I have a bad back, like really bad and I am fairly young. I couldn't pass this Rev up used for the power to weight ratio.
