Genzler Amplification Club

That’s exciting to hear that the Kinetix has some weight and heft to the notes. We don’t have any dealers near me, but hopefully I can try one soon.

How does the Kinetix handle the quick, bright and clean, edgy type sound? I can dial in that sound on my Magellan, but was curious if the Kinetix can still do that too?

I’m glad to see the tonal progression of Genzler/Genz Benz get a little better with each release! I had a Neo Pak, then ShuttleMax 12.0, and now Magellan…the tone gets a little more refined each time.

Yes, the Kinetix can absolutely do the quick, bright and clean, edgy type sound. In fact, to my ears, it does this slightly better than the Magellan (which I also love and have gigged for many years).

I'm a moderator, but I haven't had to do any moderating. Not like in the days of Fingers and other controversies.

@denton57 ---- thanks so much for your interest in our new Kinetix 800. Regarding the tube compliment, yes the preamp power supply is a full 300 volts to the tubes. But as for which tube does what, the functions of the tubes are kind of "divided up" between the pream functions, input buffer, boost, EQ, cathode follower, etc. Our Input buffer is the first 1/2 of V1 tube and the DI signal comes right off of this ciruitry.
You can certainly roll your own tubes, but we have selected the 12AX7 as the best overall performance for this design. Nothing wrong with your own experimentation though.

Edwin, not to derail the Genzler thread, at least for long, but what does being a TBL moderator mean in 2024?

LOL! Yeah, when I very first plugged in the Kinetix (into my NuClassic cabs), I was immediately struck by the "quick, bright and clean, edgy type sound." I mean, it is THERE! So, I then plugged in the MG-800, and by golly, it sounded great, as well! But different. They do cover some of the same ground, but I can definitely see folks wanting to have one of each in their stable. But yes, the Kinetix has a bit more of that "harmonic excitement," and "bounce," and while it definitely is full and thick, it's also quick and edgy, with PLENTY of clarity. This thing is just so much fun, and so musical, but at the same time, it's not a "niche product." It can really cover a lot of ground.

Do I think some folks will prefer the MG-800? Absolutely. I have raved about the Magellan in the past, and I will continue to do so. But man, the Kinetix really ticks off a lot of boxes for me! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :thumbsup:

So I ran my board tonight but I bypassed the Noble. I never thought I would say this but I didn’t miss it.

Like, at all.

The Kinetix was, dare I say, better in every way. I run in-ears along with the amp and cab and it sounded so huge and alive in my monitors that I kept pulling one out to check the stage volume only to realize it wasn’t the output volume. The DI signal was so expressive and dynamic that it seemed impossible that it was just my in-ears.

I’m a very happy bass player.

Two more assessments of the Kinetix, that confirm it’s uniqueness! I’m not surprised that it is not better or worse than the MG 800, but just something different, like a special spice that really adds to the experience. I see one for me very soon.

thanks @tombowlus and @Jamvan for the information that you guys and everyone else of the new users of the Kinetix have provided. The new kid in town is making waves!
