Genzler Amplification Club

I just used the bracket kit to bolt my MG350 onto a new ULV 112. Sounds as advertised - tight low end, punchy mids. It's the perfect grab-and-go weight for me (I live in a 3rd floor walkup.) This "little rig" will join my Kinetix / GK 112 "big rig". I may mix and match cabs for some outdoor shows this summer. The cabs seem to sound good together in my home, but eventually I'd like to settle on a matching pair. The Kinetix rocks as usual, and also sounds great with the ULV and Fat switch engaged.

Those GK series iv cabs are no joke- I’ve got a 1x12 (and the 1x12 combo) and they are a potent little rig. Lots of excellent gear these days…

The new 10-2 array arrived Thursday. Really digging it. This is my current stack and it sounds huge. Tomorrow I’m playing a small farmers market so we’ll see how they sound together.
I also have a 12” Hathor cab that has a 3” come that I’m really curious to try the array with. That will give me a 12, 10, 3 and four 2s. Could be great or not.
Ultimately I’ll be getting another 10-2 but for now I’m pretty happy.
It also sounds great on its own. Now I need a cover along with a new Magellan bag.

I do a lot of fly dates and 95% of the backline I play thru is GK. I find their amps and cabs to have a baked in tone. When I play thru my Genzler rig it sounds a lot clearer and no need to tweak the EQ. With the GK stuff, I got to play with the EQ and dial out frequencies to get my sound. I guess I’m just spoiled playing thru Genzler gear. It’s going on about
27 years with Genz Benz/Genzler and have no desire to own anything else!

@John D Harris, thanks for the question. I can say that this is probably not a fair comparison as the MG-ULV-212T is a bigger cab than the 2 BA10-2-S2 cabs and with the 12" drivers naturally have more depth. And the 212 cab offers a smooth midrange in the shallower cab. At 35 lbs that is an impressive 1 cab solution. Now the little BA10-2-S2 cabs do what they do very well for a tiny stack, but you'll get more from the 212. Hope this is helpful.

Amongst the Bass Array line is there a least colored version? Obviously slight differences exist between them, but in building my next rig I'm looking for the most even response to use with amp/cab modeling, plus the appropriate amount of output to cover any gig. That and off axis dispersion is huge for me given some of the stages I play on (the line array drivers are what led me to these cabs).

My hunch is a pair of 115's, but if the new 212 gets me most of the way there then one cab would be ideal. That said, I wouldn't be comfortable with less than 2 12's for big rooms. A while back someone posted an eq graph of the 112 which looked right on point across the spectrum. I'm using 5 string basses and routinely run an octaver in my band's music so low end extension is a significant factor. I know a lot of people are mixing and matching cabs nowadays so any personal experience is greatly appreciated, and I'm sure Jeff will chime in when he's able to.
