No. My CN212 was at home in my basement, whereas the HD212 was upstairs at work (where I do most of my initial play testing).

I have one on pre order, hoping it will be here for some session work in February. I've had zero amp GAS for since acquiring a GK MB800 to pair with my Barefaced Super Twin and various effects and such for some grind, grit, growl, overdrive, etc. I can envision dumping all of my effects, using my J bass and a little contour A for those nice clean tones and my P bass on the drive channel with the contour B for a nice vintage thump with a little hair on each distinguishable note. Super excited.

Just got my MG800 and paired it with my Phil Jones Bass C8. Loving this amp as are my band mates.
I wanted to get some opinion from those that have one. I am noticing that I get a little hair on the clean channel but I believe that this is the voicing of the amp. Anyone else notice this as well? It's a great sound actually, very full of harmonic content. Almost like a nice "growl". Played through an GB Uber 410 and noticed it as well. Not quite as glassy and pristine as my GBE1200.

With the mids pushed at approximately 800-1000 hz on the clean channel, I can start to hear a little fur as well. But again, that's boosting them in that area.
I am fairly flat on the EQ across the board. I cut the mids a bit and it seems to be present to a small degree. It definitely sounds like a mid frequency growl. The PJB cabs really well accentuate this though but I was still heating it through the Uber. I also tried several basses (Fender Jazz, Lakland, and Warwick) just to be sure. All active.
Just wanted to be sure it's a normal thing and not anything to be concerned with. I am thinking it's the amp's voicing.
My MG-800 is playing thru 2 Genzler BA 12-3s, with all EQ settings set @1:00 position, clean volume @12:00, contour A @12:00, master vol @8:00, playing Spector NS-2 W/9V HAZ, tone is SILKY smoooooooth.
drool Doesn't get any better for clean and smoothness than this.
4 months with two Genzler Bass Array cabs & MG-800 rig and still LOVING IT!
I thoroughly believe for the best Genzler experience, mate the MG-800 to the Genzler Bass Array cabs or the other Genzler cabs like the 212 or 112. After all, they were designed and engineered together for maximum listening pleasure. You won't copy the exact same tone otherwise. Peace.
Maybe I need to give that a try. I know I am hearing through a Genz Benz UB 410 as well which has been a faithful cab for many years. Luckily I have a local shop that carries the entire Genzler line. It's not clipping so it should be OK. I learned that there is a soft knee limiter that engages above 200 watts that does add some harmonic content. That could have something to do with it. Mr. Genzler gave me a few things to try but thinks that all is normal. They want to be sure all is well. Again, Great customer service!
Yes those previous cabinet lines were great but Jeff Genzler has brought us into a new age, the next age of bass cabinets and you'll not be disappointed. Matter of fact I believe you'll be AMAZED!

Agreed, perhaps I should bring my Phil Jones Bass cab down there for a shootout. I have been overly impressed with PJB so it would be a good reference point.
I was able to do a considerable amount of A/B comparisons last night. One thing that was throwing me a loop from a tone perspective was the difference in tone between the MG-800 and the GBE 1200 with the EQs set flat. The GBE is very much more High-mid and High frequency present and more glassy.
Once I tamed the EQ and got the tone as close as possible through the same cab from both amps I was able to get the same tonal signature in what I am hearing and everything is balanced regardless of amp/cab combo so I think everything is perfectly normal here. It may be a little more noticeable on the MG but I could not get the exact same tone there and the MG was always a little beefier. I was also hearing the content with or without the limiter engaged on the GBE but I can hear the difference in tone with the limiter so it wasn't caused by the limiter.
Another thing that now as hearing is an audible illusion based on being in
the near-field region of the speaker response. When I walk away from the cab
it does clean up And gets very pristine. This is more apparent on the Phil
Jones Bass cab which makes sense based on the array there vs the 4x10" or 12"
configuration.
Same results out of the bass array but again remember that I am playing LOUD to compete with my drummer. Sound pressure is an amazing thing.
Bottom line, the MG-800 has some big brass balls and like anything new, it
takes some time getting used to the differences between a new rig and one
you have been playing for a few years.
I can't say enough about how awesome it was to work with Jeff throughout the process. He gave me my homework and it really helped a lot!
