Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Certainly grumptastic here as only awake along enough to look at the time, receive a real-time request to look at something I'd not noticed before. And in a most refined manner (especially as I am still wiping the sleep from my eyes) asked to resolve. As in now.

Wednesday was the pet cat's 17th birthday. He's spent all summer outside and yesterday was no exception. For sure, he's getting up there and forgets what he's doing mid-meal. The eating engine sometimes needs a reboot. And he's asking for his meals outside now. That's new. Seventeen is pretty old for a cat.

My Wednesday, unfortunately, was not spent in the shade of a shrub. Took me all over the city on a paper chase, concluded satisfactorily. This morning's first anticipated event of note is a regularly scheduled visit with my doctor. Which also means blood work is certain to follow. All is well. And taking lunch with a friend immediately after the doctor's appointment.

I have to do some more paperwork today but that should be the last of it for a couple months. There isn't a circle in hell low enough for paper pushers.

If I recall, the lowest circle contains Satan, frozen in ice up to his waist. But...! Who is IN the ice, below his waist, and what are they receiving for punishment? Ah, there we go! Paper-pushers, condemned for eternity to....well, that would get gross. Nevermind.

Being outside, is your cat a hunter of mice?

Unfortunately, I am not, currently, grumpy. Sorry, folks. :crying:

We went to see Steve Hackett tonight. He did the Spectral Mornings and Selling England by the Pound albums, along with some new material of Steve's. They also did "Dance on a Volcano", and encored with a jammed out "Los Endos"

Amazing, almost three hour, show!!! :bassist:

I'll make sure I am grumpy, again, by tomorrow morning. :D

"Trick of the Tail" was the first Genesis music that my drummer brother turned me on to. Listening to "Dance on a Volcano" in honor of your witnessing such a cool show! I would be the polar opposite of grumpy if I'd been there.

President Jimmy Carter turned 95 yesterday...the first American President to reach that age...and he’s done it with a hammer...

His immunotherapy a few years ago produced remarkable, some said miraculous, results. Good for him. In the future they’ll be able to cure much more that way, even the common cold. The only thing standing in the way is the cost.

Being the grumptastic Friday that Friday maybe may be, my chief reservation with all these amazing technologies that can vastly extend and improve lives is

is the cost.

Because what that means is the people who can afford the cost are disproportionately likely to be the sort of people who should be living (hypothetically) a few hundred years. One argument goes the people who "pay" for the research by buying in when the price is out of reach for the rest of us, is in doing so the price will come down [because reasons]. Which may or may not be so.

What seems to me most likely is it's not a good plan to have a small number of obscenely wealthy people living for a few hundred years.

And even if that tech becomes available to us peasants ... imagine waiting until you are 120 years old for your first promotion at work. Imagine having to work for 400 years so you can live your last 200 in peace? Wait a minute ....

Welcome back to Funk 'n Friday.

A master at work. Best anti-drug song ever.

Freddie's Dead
Curtis Mayfield
Hey, hey
Love, love
Yeah, yeah
Ah, ha

Freddie's dead
That's what I said
Let the rap a plan
Said he'd see him home
But his hope was a rope
And he should've known
It's hard to understand
That there's love in this man
I'm sure all would agree
That his misery was his
Woman and things
Now Freddie's dead
That's what I said

Everybody's misused him
Ripped him up and abused him
Another junkie plan
Pushing dope for the man
A terrible blow
But that's how it goes
A Freddie's on the corner now
If you want to be a junkie, wow
Remember Freddie's dead

We're all built up with progress
But sometimes I must confess
We can deal with rockets and dreams
But reality, what does it mean
Ain't nothing said
Cause Freddie's dead

Hey, hey
Love, love
Hey, hey
Yeah, yeah
Ha, ha
Love, love
Yeah, yeah
Ha, ha
Yeah, yeah
Freddie's dead

All I want is some peace of mind
With a little love I'm trying to find
This could be such a beautiful world
With a wonderful girl
Why I need a woman child
Don't want to be like Freddie now
Cause Freddie's dead
Hey, hey
Yeah, yeah
If you don't try
You're going to die

Why can't we brothers
Protect one another
No one's serious
And it makes me furious
Don't be misled
Just think of Fred

Everybody's misused him
Ripped him up and abused him
Another junkie plan
Pushing dope for the man
A Freddie's on the corner now
If you want to be a junkie, why
Remember Freddie's dead
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
Freddie's dead
Hey, hey
Ha, ha
Love, love
Ha, ha

Good Friday, GOF's. Please report in all appendages accounted for and feeling fairly human.... Sun broke through today and it was mild and pleasant... We will be insulating our windows this weekend-- doing some winter minded shopping... Not a whole lot planned as it's not payday weekend. But life is good and there's no debtor's prison..

What say ye, GOF's? What are you up to this weekend? I hope everyone in the heat belt is doing ok by the way. Looking your way, @GonePlaid .....
