A good song by Tony Burrows, someone you’ve heard but most don’t know the name.

A studio musician with a back story. He sang background on hundreds of hits in the 70’s. Toured twice as an opening act with the Beatles, Jon Lord of Deep Purple was in one of his bands, sang backup for Elton John on Levon and Tiny Dancer, worked with Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, and a long list of others.

Friday On My Mind

When George Harrison was recording All Things Must Pass, he needed a good rhythm guitarist. He wanted someone to help him out with tracking in the studio, he called Peter Frampton and asked him to come and play acoustic guitar. Initially they recorded five songs with the members of Badfinger. Phil Spector was producing and wanted layers and layers. Greorge called Peter back and just the two of them sat in Abbey Road tracking. Between tracks they would jam. It'd be interesting to hear what went on.

From Frampton's 1981 album, Breaking All The Rules

Mmmmm....Mary Jane is legal in CA...CBD works pretty well as a relaxer.
I was never one for that sort of thing-- no judgement here. I'm half mad all the time anyway and very suggestive to the effects of drugs.. except for beer and wine... LOL. I can't even tolerate oxycotin or whatever they call it. Got it once from a dentist and made me paranoid. Ahh the wonders of the mind lol..

I read a book once about someone who committed to some life contracts in the study of Beyond, and beyond the Beyond. Nearly made Lama. Seems to me from my university notes there was some sort of legal dispute filed by the plaintiff about those life contracts. Not unusual, really. Vonnegut wouldn't touch it.

There were Kurt Vonnegut readers and there were Richard Brautigan readers, and they seldom crossed partisan lines back then in the stoned ages.

And for all our friends playing along at home

Back from the doctor and the bloodwork and none has a clue what took me out but it isn't taking me out now. Labs were normal.

The phlebotomist and I shared pleasantries of Thanksgiving and the predictable game of "guess who's cooking". We did a agree on no sweet potatoes with marshmallows.

What I didn't share is my own T day means my scalloped oysters. It's unspeakably rich. And yes of course over the decades we've seen those who were unable to stay their hand for seconds. And thirds. Just this moment in the completion of that sentence rushed Odin out the door so he would puke outside. We made it and I don't have to clean up the carpet <whew> Relevant that scalloped oysters are very rich and not everybody's system is up to three full helpings plus a full turkey dinner. And dessert. And probably some spirits in greater or lesser forms.

Took a good breakfast right after the labs. Great cafeteria. The cashier had me rung up before I reached the register.

I read both at the time...at first, I liked both. The more I read them, I found Vonnegut sententious and preachy, and Brautigan self-consciously hip. Ended up using readings from Lawrence Ferlinghetti in our wedding ceremony.

An update: Took the GO train from Guildwood to Union station and wandered up bay Street heading to Dundas. Walked to 20 Dunbas West - the OLG offices. It only took a short while to sort out where I bought the ticket. While I was waiting I enjoyed a free cup ‘o’ char. They called my name and gave my a cheque for $1000. Turned out I bought the ticket at Coppa’s food store. Walked back to Union Station underground using the ‘Path’. This is a series of connecting tunnels linking the shopping concourses of different buildings. It really should be better signed I feel ‘cos I had to keep asking for directions. Got back to Guildwood and eventually found my car and came home. Went to the bank and paid in the cheque. The saga is now over! I’m still sulking about not getting an 800+ but perhaps the powers that be might provide.
