I was never one for that sort of thing-- no judgement here. I'm half mad all the time anyway and very suggestive to the effects of drugs.. except for beer and wine... LOL. I can't even tolerate oxycotin or whatever they call it. Got it once from a dentist and made me paranoid. Ahh the wonders of the mind lol..
CBD is so mild you might reconsider. Test it. See if it reduces the "half-mad" to at least a "quarter-mad". Your blood pressure will thank you.

I read a book once about someone who committed to some life contracts in the study of Beyond, and beyond the Beyond. Nearly made Lama. Seems to me from my university notes there was some sort of legal dispute filed by the plaintiff about those life contracts. Not unusual, really. Vonnegut wouldn't touch it.

There were Kurt Vonnegut readers and there were Richard Brautigan readers, and they seldom crossed partisan lines back then in the stoned ages.

I like both, but Brautigan was more light-hearted. Just last week I mistook a set of stairs for a trout stream. ;)

Started off firmly in the Vonnegut camp and wrote sardonic Brautigan verse. Later graduated to sardonic Hemingway. They wished me well as I left school for Real Life. It was more write and get work than write if you get work. :banghead:
I was more the Dr. Seuss and My Weekly Reader type...

Alas, in my addled mind I forever cross Brautigan's book with Trout Mask Replica. Something to do with the circumstances of the time. I really don't remember. Trout Mask in America. Trout Fishing Replica. Richard Bfart. I gotta run so far to find a brook trout.

My Brautigan reference was from the opening of "Trout Fishing in America" where the character makes that mistake while out for a walk. I also like the part where he walks into a shop that is selling sections of a trout stream. :)

Yeah, it's been years. Good memory. Ah, that bit about sections of trout stream, I remember that. Of the old hippielit, that would be the most fun to read that again.
My own reference is to a later Beefheart song, Clear Spot. Memorable because it's more or less intelligible. Even got some airplay. Once :)

It is Slaughterhouse-Five that holds the attention of the 17-year-old me. Billy Pilgrim has become unstuck in time ....

The boy stood on the burning deck
Having a game of cricket
The ball went up his trouser leg and hit his middle wicket!.....:woot:

Were you in a rugby club?! :jawdrop:

The Captain was out there...

When I was in college I was heavily recruited for the rugby team. At 6'4" and somewhere around 200 pounds (back then) I guess they thought I was a natural. I've seen rugby. I turned them down. I'm crazy, not brain dead...:woot:

When I was an undergrad at Arizona in the early 70s, there were bumper stickers on campus that said, "RUGBY PLAYERS EAT THEIR DEAD". Macabre, but then, it was a strange time in Tucson. Some people's ultimate nightmare...hippies with guns and combat experience.
