Before the Beatles I was influenced by Elvis, Chuck, Carl, and Roy...in the 60's we did 60's pop songs and country. A mod riding on a Honda 50. In the early 70's I took a step back to my roots and was in greaser band. That Brylcreem was murder, what a mess. A rocker, liking souped up cars.

Not being a snob, I made money doing both.

73 through 82, played in a restaurant/lounge gig for 7 years, followed by a Miami Beach Hotel lounge for 2 1/2 years. Matching outfits group-including Leisure suits for awhile-then Tuxes. Made a damn good living.

In truth...and NOT trying to fire up the old fan rivalries.....

My first hearing of the Beatles resulted in me declaring that pop music was dead!......


It was weird in London, it was Beatles or Stones.....Seldom both....

I am not sure where my age falls within the GOF spectrum (I will be 57 next month), but outside of my love of the blues, my music tastes are from the mid-60s to the early 80s (maybe March 1980?), especially anything in the 70s, with the exception of disco. So by the time I got interested in music (70-71), both the Beatles and the Stones were already established.

While I total respect the Beatles and think John and Paul were the greatest songwriting duo in American music, I am a Stones guy all the way! To me, the Stones are rock 'n roll with a little blues-tinge to their music. The Beatles have always been just Pop music to me.

I am sure I am in the minority here and if there was a dislike button, I am sure the huge amount of dislikes would shut the TalkBass Intraweb down...

Not bashing...just sharing...

P.S. You would think for a lefty like me, Paul McCartney would be my Patron-Saint of Bass.....

I remembered! I remembered! The hard question is why I remembered. That question's not hard, it's the answer I have a feeling I won't care for.

It never ceases to amaze me/myself the totally useless things I remember from many mango seasons ago-and can't remember why I walked in to the kitchen.

As you age, the bubble around you keeps collapsing. At some point, you'll only remember what's a few feet around you.

BTW, you went into the kitchen to look for the keys that you mistakenly left in the freezer.
