So, having just blown my inheritance on a brand new sub $20 bass.....
And thinking project bass...
And that it's long scale, which I simply can't manage.....
And that @Passinwind mentioned slide bass....
Which, theoretically I shouldn't have trouble with a slide with.....
And that Mr. Wind also mentioned that your bass can take a bit of a hammering if used for slide.....
Guess what I'm doing with me new bass?.....

I like the green one; it's unusual because I usually don't like green, but that one sure is nice. Walnut one should be here tomorrow. I have a practice here tomorrow evening with an artist I'm going to record with in a few weeks; might drag it out for that just to play around with it if it's here by then. Working with my favorite drummer and a really good guitar player on this one; should be fun and it's easy, paid work, which is even better.

Speaking of non-favorite colored appliances, and mostly not easy or paid, I'm contemplating taking this work in-progress over to my Frday night jam tonight. Because nothing says bluegrass like an orange sparkle five string, eh? And oddly enough, the roasted tiger maple neck brings more bling than that crazy finish, which goes all holographic under the right lighting. I love my increasingly less businesslike relationship with my luthier friend, this is like having a long term loaner where I'm free to tinker with the electronics at-will and give it back when I say it's done.

Sure, as long as it's an upright.

I'm often playing the only plugged in instrument at this Friday night jam, but even with an acoustic upright that's often necessary, as it's not uncommon for there to be 8-10 other acoustic instruments in play.

Two full knee replacements is a lot of shock to the body. I mean, unbelievable. And yet. Found myself in that place in life where stairs were pure torture, walking painful, standing painful, life looks pretty SuXoRz when it's just bone on bone, SuXoRz when surgery is the better option ....

Absolutely months of physical therapy. OMFG.

It's done, I can walk without pain, and there's a great deal to be said for "I can walk". Except for of course osteoarthritis is a general condition and now it's the right foot that's bone on bone.

The saga continues..................

Nice SVT. There are times I miss Los Angeles. Gonna be a little bit before I rewire with TV Jones and new pots. Saw lots of dough in the GAS account fly away. But. That is the final piece of this, it's complete, nothing more for me to do but wait the bureaucracy out. Five, six years of all over the freaking planet to get here?

I hear ya. With the money we've lost over the past three business days we could have bought several nice cars. Oh well. I've been planning to fully retire next year and it looks like that's probably not going to happen. I may even have to ramp up the petsitting business and put my husband back to work. That $300 bass was a splurge I probably can't afford right now.

Got this super-dooper steroid cream to treat the skin above my ankle, so rescheduling the surgery now on the presumption it works.

I was in the Mediocre group for a while but not sure why I didn't continue over there. Maybe I only have room in my life for one solid bass club? I am definitely mediocre, and definitely grumpy and old, so should qualify for both.

I'm hip(OK, not really). I have enuff trouble keeping up with the 4 I'm in now. I've been 'encouraged' to hook up with a coupla others. I spend too much time in TB-especially trying to catch up after a gig(or a DS9 binge watch)-as it is.

Yeah, it does, and I keep reminding myself that I've been watching good growth over the past six months, so that's a cushion for this disaster that I didn't have a year ago. So we ride it out. Even the crash of 2009, which was pretty bad, didn't last forever.

I don't follow the stock market's fluctuations that much. All my assets are tied up in debt.

We have a bunch of 401(k)s from various jobs, four IRAs, and we own a lot of stock in Apple. I have a little trading account with some Tesla stock and a few other little things. It's not enough to make us wealthy, but combined with our pensions and social security, it should be enough to keep us going through retirement, as long as it doesn't tank too badly. But that's all on paper.

We still owe on our house though. Having a housemate is helping with the mortgage payments, though that was not why we brought him in. Extra benefit to having a friend who needed a place to stay.

I just spent a week in Riverside, CA for work and I am sitting in LAX. Man, the weather sure is nice here in CA. I can see why folks like it here.

But in two weeks, the wife and I are heading back to Madeira Beach, FL for a little R&R. Our second annual trip to FL. We are staying across from John's Pass. Looking to check out the music scene. Any TB'er from around there or familiar with the area, feel free to pass on suggestions.

I know your winters are nice and summers can suck (like the humidity can suck the life out of you).

I had a project back around 2003 in Brooksville, FL (north of Tampa) where I spend at least a week a month for over 15 months on site. Summers were miserable. But it was fun going into a restaurant in January with shorts on and everyone else has heavy jackets on. It was like in the high 50's.
