Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

GP's comment reminded me of an outdoor concert I went to back in the summer of 2018. Willie Nelson (85 years old back then) opened with an hour long set. Then John Fogerty (73) did a good hour set of mostly CCR songs. The headliner were the youngsters ZZ Top (~69 years old). I am so glad I went. I paid under $50 for the ticket.

So that means when I saw CCR way back when Billy, Dusty, and Frank were in high school. I paid $3.00 for my ticket. Gawd do I really feel old and grumpy.

And, IIRC, when I first saw ZZT in '69, cover at the door was $1 at the former grocery store building. It was the day Billy had his interview with the Draft Board, or so he said, and he had a short haircut and was dressed like early Mickey Mouse complete with ears and tail (but black shorts)!

Surreal, to say the least, but there was no denying the music of their first album, Tres Hombres.

Well it's 5:40am in Sitka. I woke up a couple hours ago unable to sleep. Not going to work has thrown off my bio clock. I miss the routine. So, I've been working around the place doing spring cleaning. I pulled out an old Ibanez P bass and cleaned her up and did a bridge and truss rod maintenance. Put on some EB Slinky's. The old gal plays great now! It does lack in some notes and I don't like the knobs. So I'm going to order a cream DiMarzio Pbass pickup and cream Strat style knobs. Does anyone know if Strat knobs will fit on an Ibanez? I know I could ask Professor Google....

If the shafts are the same diameter, yes. If not, duct tape or rubber hammer as appropriate.

Your Ibanez might have a metric shaft, remove the knob and inspect for a smooth or a spline shaft and measure the diameter to be sure. You can always change your pots though.

For spline pots like the strat knob uses, there are coarse (18) and fine (24) splines. There are universal strat knobs that will push onto either. Here is an example.

Thanks @beans-on-toast !

Seems like this photo could use some help in the darkroom by a skiiled printer. Pretty flat in the contrast and tonality department. :smug:

And, I see no point in the soft-focus filter used, too. Or, was it just a crummy lens or, maybe, a fingerprint on it? :woot:

It occurred to me this morning, while I was idly feeding the macaws, that most people have unrealistic expectations. I had just finished replying to ANOTHER thread about how totally useless ABGs are, since you can't use them at a campfire like you would a P onstage and get those results. Then went over to the Jeep Wrangler Forum, and had to ignore the daily dose of people who bought a Jeep, and are now unhappy because it doesn't ride as smoothly as their Lexus, as quietly as their Honda, and get as good mileage as their Prius....and haul as much load as their Ram 1500 and do 0-60 in 3 seconds. As Hunter Thompson used to say, "Buy the ticket, take the ride." Or, as my DI used to say, "shut the hell up, you volunteered."
