Sorry for your stress. I know what caring for parents can put you through. I don't know what's with these doctors. My mom was senile and rushed to hospital from here care home. Despite having power of attorney and all the other care paperwork in place, the doctors ignored the family and were asking her to make medical decisions. They kept the family in the dark for two days.

I'm not trying to stick my nose in your business but be careful, you don't want the elderly in pain, sometimes it's better to be comfortable and be in outer space than be aware and be in pain, I'm a retired RN.

I understand. There are other meds that will work without these side effects. The opioid plague has made doctors reluctant to use them. I am not advocating no pain relief.

Thanks, Beans. I'm not stressing. I do think it's ridiculous that she has to go through this. Her neurologist prescribed a drug for her essential tremors that is from the same 'family' of drugs a few years ago which brought on the same reactions. We've already been through this...

....Once FAs gave the preflight instructions before they were projected on a screen. The FAs are able to see who pays attention. It's very important to know where the nearest exits are. What you don't know is if others know where the nearest exits are. Got to the point where I could recite the preflight instructions word for word in real time. Cracked up more than one FA.

Took the wife and sons to Hawaii a few years back.
When the safety film got to the part about the seats being a flotation device I leaned over to the wife and said "Screw that.....show me the seat that can bounce out of a cornfield!"
My attempt at sotto voice apparently failed, as the FA standing behind us busted up, laughing so hard she nearly drooled down the back of my neck.
She gave us excellent service, and extra everything for the 11 hour duration of that flight from O'hare.
My two sons (15 and 10 at the time) were so enamored of this quite lovely young lady that I was convinced they would put themselves up for adoption at Honolulu just to catch the ride back with her!

The power transformer is huge and heavy. Takes " head dive " to a whole new level.

Anyhow, the tape is holding the fuse cap on. And the two prong cord has what looks like a lamp chord rigged to what is left of the original one. So I don't think it would be a good idea to plug it in, let alone turn it on.

Is it salvageable ?

Absolutely salvageable without putting too much into it unless something major like the power transformer is blown. At the very least, you'll have a project to poke around with. There's a demand for those Sivertone amps. This one is a model 1465, rated at 150W, built by Danelectro for Sears. The schematic is below. It came with different speaker configurations, one was a 610. It has a James tone stage, similar to the one used in Ampeg amps. The power supply caps might need changing.

The best advice I can give you is take your time and do no harm. Remove the amp from the chassis and start with a good cleaning with a damp cloth. Be careful if you are removing the rust. The best apprioach with the transformers is to lightly brush off any loose particles and stabilize the surface with a rust paint. Do not sand the edges where the transformer plates are stacked, the metal frames are fine to sand if you wish to. They should be painted for rust protection. Be careful with the lettering on the faceplate and the chassis. It might come off in a heartbeat if you use alcohol to clean. Dab with a wet cotton makeup removal pad, don't scrape. Move up to a mild soap and water solution if necessary. More agressive foaming type bathroom cleaners (I use a product called Scrubbing Bubbles) can be used on chassis bare metal.

He clearly regreted letting it go to Jackson for a paltry $50M. He learnt his lesson and bought other publishing rights.

This summarizes what went on. It was just a matter of time for his songwriter copyrights to be reclaimed. I think that Sony made a good PR move in settling.

Thanks David ! I had no idea that the solid-state Silvertones were worth messing with. Your reply led to me doing a search, which I should have done initially. Looks like I finally have an amp to get my feet wet !

I'll pull the chassis and see how it looks in there.
