Best I can tell, my last post in this thread was on 4/12/19, pg. 788. It was a story about my front lawn. Now we're on pg. 1531. You grumpsters have been busy this past year.
Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"
I have another lawn story. About a week and a half ago I was out in the front of my house and a neighbor lady and her 4 or 5 year old daughter were walking their 3 little dogs down the sidewalk. The Mom was holding 2 on a leash, the little girl was holding the 3rd on a leash. As they walked by my house they allowed 2 of the dogs to come on my grass. Just as the dogs were about to pee I said to the Mom, "Whoa. Please don't let your dogs pee on my grass." I was very polite in my tone of voice. The Mom pulled the dogs off of the grass and apologized. It was a very cordial conversation. I explained to her why dead spots were appearing on my grass. We talked a bit about the coronavirus.
Fast forward to 4 days ago. I was finishing up mowing and edging the lawn when they again came down the street. Same Mom, same little girl, same 3 dogs. About 2 houses away they crossed over to the other side of the street. I said hello and waved. The little girl says, "There's that weird neighbor, Mommy." Couldn't help myself. I shot back with, "There's that weird neighbor...I heard that." The Mom kind of smiled and shushed the child. The little girl didn't come up with that on her own. She must have heard the Mom say that and merely copied what she'd heard. Yes, I must be weird because I don't like dogs relieving themselves on my grass. I've worked hard this spring getting my lawns in the best shape they've ever been in. Call me any name you like. Just keep your dogs off my lawn!
And...three times in the past year people have let their dogs poop on my lawn. These poop-cidents were within a foot of the sidewalk, so it's highly unlikely it was done by dogs roaming free. Be a good neighbor. Let your animals pee and poop on your own lawn before beginning your walk. Keep your dogs off my lawn!
And don't ever, ever touch my stereo!!!

Cool! The only YouTube vid I can find of me playing with the White Salmon Jazz Band was done with a phone and got washed out pretty badly, plus it was one of the handful of gigs I played on EUB rather than fretless BG, which most of the band members actually preferred. I had a couple of great years with them though.
My literal cowboy friend has an Epi TB and I'd rock it if I were still gigging with him, for sure.

Have you ever chased the sound of a beeping UPS unit in a windowless building in a full blackout from a tornado touchdown only to find it is keeping a graphic department Mac running? And perhaps say or think many bad words in expectation of a lost weekend as you regen the servers that went down? Neither have I.
Nope, this neighbor doesn't care about his lawn. Let's let our animals urinate and defecate on his grass. Maybe even let our children do the same.

back when I was knee high to a grasshopper our first computer's name was Ananias. And when you're dealing with a Digital PDP-8, you gonna get a little religion anyway — at least as far as liars are concerned. Big Iron to Cloud, bit (<- vile pun) like watching horse to steam engine. Or letterpress to InterWebs.
This here particular machine is not in any significant way different from that first computer in terms of its potential for annoyance. To get the DAW and its software going means a few stupid gymnastics that any reasonably competent person could script in a New York minute. Having no such inclination means I get to grouse about just how profoundly stupid the computer is.
But it don't pee and pewp on the nice lawns.

These were on a DVD that my BIL converted to some other format[?] for me. I have no idea how to do that (stuff). Originally shot with some kind of camcorder in 2008.

There are some decent recordings from my big band stint out there, but they were posted on Facebook years ago when I had a different account there and I have no way to find them again since they weren't taken by band members.
I had it on for 4 hours, only to be let down by the Florida weather. It probably cleared ten minutes later.

A stereo 1/8 inch to mono 1/4 inch adapter is what I need to record drumz / backing track / primate noises on its own channel through the DAW. Likely order one next week as one in no hurry to record for the Teeming Millions.
This, however, changed everything. Way better than an 8 track. ( Grail find — an 8 track of Shocking Blue
)
I always wanted one of those but fancy car radios like that got you a smashed window. I did get an 8-track reel-to-reel recorder for home.

More than one friend who just out-and-out didn't believe me when I said the car stereos at the swap meet are all hot.
They still sell radios with removable faceplates. The problem is, this created a faceplates only market for ebay.

It's a trashed looking van with an empty radio slot my friend takes to Dublin when there's business in the dodgy parts of town. You know, like where the music venues are.
