Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

It's nice to see places reopening. On Sunday I passed by an A&W and noticed that they are open again for takeout. I thought, Oh Boy, onion rings! Went to the takeout window to place an order. The kid inside says, you can only place an order and pay via their A&W app. So I sayz, I don't have my phone, can't I just tell you what I want and pay with my tap card? Apparently not, there's a new commandment. Thou shalt use thy app.

Of course, now I grump at them and won't use their app out of spite. I wish that they had a virtual tip jar, I'd leave a few choice words.
I'm hosed. I have a flip phone. Doesn't do apps.

My man. I absolutely despise stoopid phones and I've been rocking the cheapest most basic one I could find for several years now. I rarely bring it into public places with me either. There's no memory available for any new apps, and I'm fine with that. But as always, yelling at clouds will only get you so far.:atoz:

Peoples think I'm weird*. I use my phone as-wait for it-a phone!

I am.

Is there a difference? Still saving for the apocalypse, might be cool gas wise just getting my new solder sucker. And my fret erasers... I am a boring old man. I hit 50 a few days ago; do I need a new number?
Puscifier rules,
f!

50? Nah, you're still a young man.
Gotta list of your meds and ailments?
That might get you in. Might.:roflmao:

:roflmao: How's it going @Stumbo .... staying sane through the lockdown? I'm starting to talk to Peter Frampton from the 70's on YouTube! I play along with the TV every night for now until things change later in the year...

I have an iPhone for my job. City pays for it. I use it all day for work. Address book, appointment reminders, Google to look up solutions... then music while I drive. Took me a long time to get into a routine with it. But once I'm home, on the weekends and after hours, the phone goes OFF. Boss's orders. I had the Harbor and Police departments calling me for tech support early weekend mornings and Carey said that will be enough of that!

My reliable laser printer (bought in 2003) gave up the ghost and I have to buy a new one. Any recommendations for a small office machine? I like HP but am looking around. I know that all the HP laser engines and cartridges are made by Canon. Reliability is high on the list.

With the easing restrictions on suggested action, my doctor is arranging a referral to the joint doctor about my right elbow. I saw him two years ago for my left shoulder and that worked out pretty well. Here I'm thinking about and buying straps to ease my shoulder pain, when what I really needed was physical therapy. It's the A word ....

I see a different doctor for the A* in my right foot, and there is a completely different doctor what replaced both knees (hey Dorothy, I am able to walk again)

How about my sm*tphone as both my ailment and my med?

A good portion of the day on my sm*tphone is running an app <cough cough> called Tempo. Metronome goes, timer starts, and it's five minutes of focused attention on a single lesson of my choosing. Take a breather and let my body relax, and repeat until I've done 45 minutes with the piece. Take once or twice daily as needed.

That's my current arrangement with Music Theory for the Bass Player. Monday as I considered the course units, I chose one that I simply was unable to do. My fingers don't like this ... and as of Tuesday made some headway and here and there beginning to sound decent to my ear ....

Every time I reach for the keyboard, or my bass, or a lemonade, my elbow pops. It's kind of hurting sometimes so looks like it's injection time. Left shoulder's good, but going to tell the doctor I didn't complete my PT because I'd used all my PT time for the year with my knees ....

My stupidity as a youth caused a lot of discomfort in my knees. Exiting a helicopter with 60 pounds of gear does stuff. For about 20 years, I coped by ingesting large doses of prescription opiates. Made me a really mellow high school teacher. When I coldturkyed that stuff, acupunture saved me...I have less pain now than I did when I was 30.

I guess this is going to be my next HP. I had one in the Amazon cart that was $349 but I waited too long and it went up $80!

EDIT: I like Canon and Brother for inkjets but the HP's are just rock solid tanks for laser duty.

EDIT EDIT: Here's one that only does manual duplexing if you can live without it.

Nice music. I like nice music too sometimes.

Did you get a solder sucker aready fnord? What flavor? I have a Pace one I've never really bonded with as a day to day tool, it defintely works well for certain things though.

I have wide stretchy straps from Neotech that help relieve the weight of heavy instruments. Is it the same elbow/shoulder that Odin tugs so hard when he’s on a leash?

If all else fails, look for a guy at the lemonade stand that calls himself the joint doctor.
My Neotech 4" strap does NOT stretch now (though they say it does, and maybe it did when new -- I think it's the memory foam in it that gives that impression) https://www.neotechstraps.com/mega-strap.html , but the one my brother suggested I get DOES stretch a little. It's called a Comfort Strapp. Comfort Strapp™ – Comfort Strapp™ Guitar Straps It is indeed comfy. It's on the Squier VM Jaguar SS that I don't play (mostly because the Jazz-size neck makes my hand crampy after a while), but the strap is fine. I do prefer the Neotech, though.

Thanks Will. The M283fdw is at the top of my list. The lower cost Neverstop is interesting as well but I worry with the drum not being in the cartridge like many are. If it gets scratched it could be expensive to replace. Both are new to the market so the latest technology.

Will check out the other model mentioned.

I've had an HP All In One laser printer for around 10 years now, such that its "toolbox" of software functions is no longer supported by the Macintosh OS or HP, so I rely on the Mac's built-in capabilities. But it works fine, and back then it was only about $200 or so bucks. I'm stunned to see color LaserJet AIOs for so little now.
