Borax is used to make an oxide layer on aluminum when making capacitors. Excellent for making laundry smell nice as well as clean. It's good for killing mold.

I also like that it's a product that my great grandmother would have used. That and a bar of yellow sunlight soap which I also use on my hands and as a spot cleaner.

Those are big wagons. They haven't used them since the 1800's.

I thought that all the wooden structures had burned down a number of years back (maybe 2010) - most of the stone was still standing. It was right after the Park Service had done some major renovation IIRC. Most of my California desert time was at Ridgecrest and Mojave.

Your allergies must be really bad if you're willing to get it from behind the counter for the sake of a pill.

I have terrible allergies, mostly grass, trees, and cottonwood creating havoc. I have had it ever since was a wee lad.

The Zyrtec-D is basically prescription strength and it works much better than regular Zyrtec in the drug aisle.

It has pseudoephedrine which is a misused ingredient to make methamphetamine, which is why it is behind the counter.

Borax is what comes out of the ground, it has the element boron in it. They chemically alter it to form boric acid. It can be a liquid or a fine powder. In terms of a pesticide, boric acid absorbs into the bugs and kills them. Interesting to note that the ancient Egyptians used borax to clean. It's been around as a product for a long time.

Folks are just making sport.

The borax connection is easy to miss because you live in a place where there is lots of snow. Sometimes borax was used to simulate snowflakes falling over choirs singing at Christmas, as described in this book excerpt. The borax took the kink right out of one girl's hair. (I wouldn't try this at home.)

Ants hate both borax and incense, so a borax based incense makes perfect sense.
