Were any of you privy to the free pay phone call tricks in your teens? The one I learned was to place a bare wire or bobby pin into where the handset wires entered the plastic handset. Then simply ground the other end to the metal coin box. Worked quite well. (I was told)

I was just thinkin' today, you used to be almost able to set your watch by the postal service in the US. Now the mail comes anywhere between 1:00 pm and 6 pm here?

Trouble is the USPS has been run by a private company for decades now, hasn't been directly "government" run since the '70s IIRC.
Sounds like they are a private industry up north also Paul?

Yeah, I remember that. But what p%^*@d me off was that Disney was running the 'Scarecrow' on the other channel and i couldn't watch it cause big sister pulled rank to watch that elvis guy! Still ticked off at that....hmmm maybe thats where my grumpiness began?????

It was about the same here in Wisconsin. Took my dog out early enough that there were no other lights on except mine. One of the joys of attaining GOF is the ability to function at 0500.

They are talking about canning home delivery for us up here. Everyone will get a monstrosity of a multiple mail box stuck on their street. I wonder how we are to get our mail out of a box covered with a sheet of ice.
We were down to -18C last night. Supposed to be +6C on the weekend.
They talked about ending Saturday deliveries down here, but I think it was just a ploy to raise rates again.

Saw a commercial last night where Mazda is comparing themselves to Bruce Lee, Jackie Robinson, and Jacques Plante (goaltender in the days of no masks). Just another example of how the whole world's gone to #%&*!
IIRC starts with rural but eventually no home delivery whatsoever! As it is I just use the mail for bill payments and greeting cards.
