Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Less than a slosh!

The brandy is a gift, and I am hard pressed to recall the last time I bought a bottle of alcohol. I'd say it was several Christmas seasons ago when I indulged in some holiday spirit. I call it Time Travel Juice, and the concoction is equal parts brandy and Blackhaus, served neat. The recipe came to me because of certain vital research conducted at a lemonade stand in the South Tower of the WTC.

"Time Travel Juice" :D :D :D

It's devilishly good on a cold winter night. Spoken for truth.
Ah, the halcyon days of my misspent youth, how I miss them! I have to admit it does sound like something good to sip in the company of a comely lass while engaging in plain and fancy conversation, both of us wondering whether the drink and flirtation might lead to something delicious later.

How I do go on.

Modern flashes have come a long way from the olden dayz. With the flash batteries and the assembly mounted on my Nikon, it was quite heavy. Good thing I never went with the motorized winder.

Yes, they have, but the look of a large flash powder gun is pretty special.

...everyone blames covid.
It's getting to really piss me off that everything is being blamed on it.

I just slept and slept--
I wish I could do that.

We more or less got all of five hours of sleep. Started at midnight and woke up throughout the night, p breaks and all. I finally got up today at 6:30am. It's now 43 degrees out and damp and too cool. We have the Toyostove on at 65 so we're ok. Different from yesterday, it was warm and clear. This is what the old timers called 'fall fishing weather.'

Dang school buses are backing up traffic as they do every year, I guess I really don't mind it. Happy Monday GOF's.

Now you guys are reminding me of one of my favorite afternoon TV shows in '69...The Galloping Gourmet (with Graham Kerr). I'd watch at 1:30, then on a different channel at 2:30, then go to work. Always having a nip/slosh of wine while cooking!

I haven't heard anyone mention those in years Will. I still have one from the late 70's in my garage and it works perfectly whenever I need some serious backup or supplemental heat. I think it's about 10,500 BTU/HR and can run close to a full day on like a gallon and a half fill of K-1.

Yep @Al Kraft we live in a small place and when we thought about replacing the heating systems, we replaced the main furnace with a "green" furnace that sips the oil. The Toyostove can take care of just about the whole place in the wintertime and is happy with a sniff of oil. Also, Carey and I are used to living in a cooler environment from living with large dogs so long. Everytime the heat got above 68 the dogs would pant like they were dying-- so we adapted. Probably has saved us thousands over the years keeping our place cooler. Toyostoves are very popular in Sitka for good reason.

BTU.

AKA the British Thermal Unit.

The amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 pound of water, at maximum density, by one degree Fahrenheit.

One of my university professors quite rightly called them "barsteward thermal units". We got problems in Imperial units, converted the inputs into SI units, did the sums in SI units then converted the answers back into BTUs per cubic furlong per bushel of hay per fortnight or whatever it was.

When first I saw Bob Dylan in '87, I agreed he sounded like the newspaper's composing room foreman [strong word for complaining]. Amazing to me a quarter century passed between the time I first listened to him on the radio and was present to him in Real Life ™

BTU’s are as useful as amp Watts. They don’t mean a lot to me. With amps there’s loud, louder, and really loud. In my case, 25W, 100W, and 300W. The warm glow of the tube heaters can also keep you warm. With room heaters, there’s cold, comfortable, and too hot. Kind of like the three bears, to have to try them to see which type you need.

On cold winter nights, I find that an oil filled radiant space heater does a good job.

That explains why he dropped off my radar.

Anyone else waste their money on a ticket to the Bob Dylan tour just after his 'conversion'? It was a dreadful show. Walked out before it was over. And I wasn't close to alone.

Not the first time people walked out of a Dylan concert. They didn’t like his electric instruments either.
