So what say ye, GOF's? Did you have a good weekend? @Morrighan and other GOF's with health issues I hope you're doing well today.

This makes me grumpy, for the third day in a row no less. And it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Yep, I took a serious look at what it would take to DIY that look. A whole lot of dinero, for starters. I decided to stick with matching my primary practice cab since this amp will probably rarely if ever leave my house.

Are you going for a period correct eyelet board and cosmetic treatment, or...?

I haven’t decided yet.

I did an eyelet board for the 5E3 circuit years ago and I may use it.

I want to make some layout changes for lower noise. So I might do it with FR4 and turrets. The dust from that material is quite hazardous. On the other hand, Hoffman Amps makes nice custom boards on a CNC machine and has a fast turnaround. Place an order and it is usually shipped same day. Cost of an FR4 5E3 with eyelets or turrets is under $20. There is an app for laying out the boards.

I’ve used Mercury Magnetics transformers for these type of amps. The chrome chassis is off the shelf.

That's gorgeous. I remember 30 years ago a friend of mine got the first one in little Sitka. It only had 10" speaker but boy was it loud! And beautiful! That was one guitar combo I would call sexy.

With all the beautiful combos available at M/B, I wonder why they don't make their D800's into bass combos, you know special editions. I know they're painstakingly careful on introducing new products.

At one time you could order custom cabinet configurations from them. Maybe you still can. But back then you could order their products directly from the company.

Firefighters in Oregon were saying that the fires could burn through the winter, even with rain. I thought that they were bad last year.
At least two of the big ones are currently at 0% containment. Zero. Just mitigating man made structure damage is an overwhelming task for the moment. :atoz:

Sorry GOF's here for a VERY LATE roll call. I don't know what was wrong on Friday and yesterday--it was like a 24 hour flu. I just slept and slept-- So please if you wish report in on accounting for all toes fingers and appendages accounted for. As I said, I was out for the count until today. Carey makes an excellent nurse! Today is a nice day and we have one of those small Lil Smokey BBQ's and a rack of ribs. Also some corn on the cob, and I think we're going to just back a couple potatoes. So what say ye, GOF's? Been a nice weekend but they are always way too short after a long weekend.

I would like to hit like but I can't. Our NorCal specs are 157, still unhealthy. Can't wait for the filters to arrive.
It’s even worse in Portland and Eugene right now, much less where the fires actually are. I’m about 50-60 miles from the nearest big one, but we’re more or less surrounded from afar, which makes what would normally be clearing winds nearly moot in the short term. Extremely non bueno.

Since you asked, I read the results of my labwork online and nothing's out of sorts. That's the first of several green lights to catch on the way to the operating theater.

Just put a nip of brandy in my very late afternoon coffee. I earned it today.

A nip is 6.66 imperial ounces. Some weird terms are used to express volumes of drink. The Beatles sing of a hogshead in Mr. Kite. There are two hogsheads in a butt. Who knew.

Aw, you're just making up for inventory being early last week. :D Glad you're feeling better!

Most of the original parts are intact, and all the little ducks are mostly swimming beak to tail. My appendix and gall bladder are long departed these many years, and since they both caused me much pain, I'm glad. The remaining parts are sometimes sore and creaky to a greater or lesser degree. Birthdays are not your friend in that regard. But I woke up on this side of the grass today and hope to do the same tomorrow, so all is well.

Define ‘nip’, please.

Less than a slosh!

The brandy is a gift, and I am hard pressed to recall the last time I bought a bottle of alcohol. I'd say it was several Christmas seasons ago when I indulged in some holiday spirit. I call it Time Travel Juice, and the concoction is equal parts brandy and Blackhaus, served neat. The recipe came to me because of certain vital research conducted at a lemonade stand in the South Tower of the WTC.

I wish there was a way to send some of our current overabundance of dampness out your way.

Egad, that sounds like it could make a person limp on both hind legs!
