Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

BTU’s are as useful as amp Watts. They don’t mean a lot to me. With amps there’s loud, louder, and really loud. In my case, 25W, 100W, and 300W. The warm glow of the tube heaters can also keep you warm. With room heaters, there’s cold, comfortable, and too hot. Kind of like the three bears, to have to try them to see which type you need.

On cold winter nights, I find that an oil filled radiant space heater does a good job.

No personal experience of a three dog night. Much personal experience of a one dog night.

A heated mattress pad is my launchpad to the stars. I don't care how cold the room gets (it does get cold, but caring doesn't change it), because of my wool blanket and counterpane. And Odin!

Late 90's Carey and I lived in Wildomar California. The local radio station was hosting a concert in the multipurpose field, as it was a beautiful night. It was Three Dog Night, although one of the Dogs quit, so it was really Two Dog Night. I had just missed Tower of Power and AWB in Vegas because Carey didn't want to mess with parking. So every now and then I say to Carey, "well I never saw any big time acts when we lived in California, but I did get to see Two Dog night." She sometimes winces....

EDIT: Rumor had it that they were from Anchorage and Fairbanks. The colder the night the more sled dogs would die. I guess three dog night was as cold as it got...

The closest I've come to wishing to visit Alaska is in my desire to see Denali in person. Any desire to ascend Denali disappeared with the cold reality of the chance of being tent bound. I already know what it's like to my own tent buried in snow. And while it's interesting in retrospect, I've no motivation to repeat it daily for a couple weeks at altitude as I wait for the weather to clear. 'just what I heard ....

Lots of things I'd like to have on my life resume, but to be doing them at the moment is a little different. Soloing the Petit Dru (I've never done that) absolutely makes for a good yarn. Being up there, alone, thinking about very very little with all your attention ... not so much. But should it come down to it, I'll bloody well solo winter climb Denali before I ever agree do it virtually with computers. :: smh ::

I suppose I can have a Three Goose Night. I have three goose down duvets, a heavy, medium, and light. So depending on how cold it is or if I want to have an open window in the winter, I can choose one to match the room temperature.

I once slept on an antique goose down mattress. It was like sleeping on a cloud. I’ll never forget it. Some have it good.

Not a great help if you peed through 20 mattresses and coverlets.

My wife worked as a chamber maid at a big Holiday Inn. When someone would wet the bed, maintenance men came and flipped the mattress. No cleaning was done. Eventually the mattresses would be thrown out. Never buy a used hotel mattress.

Maybe it’s different now but I’ve never been able to stay at a Holiday Inn knowing this.
Having toured and stayed in hotels on and off for 20 years the stories about hotels can get a lot worse.. :(

Never shine a black light aka UV lamp in a hotel room. You’ll see body fluids everywhere

And that's why I have a motor home. COVID woke me up to the fact that I have control my living spaces. I will never fly or stay in a motel/hotel again. I may be grumpy but, I do not need to expose myself to someone elses "stuff".

No, not the lemony drink, nor the "night of a thousand waterfalls", but the experience of taking a semi-guided tour of someone's colon.
What would that taste like?

Yeah, you got it!
See....now you're reacting like I do when I hit the Loves for a cuppa Brazilian or Colombian, and they have tankard after tankard of pumpkin spice this or pumpkin spice that.
" Buy a pumpkin spice latte and get a free pumpkin spice streusel, and some pumpkin spice cake.
We'll even throw in a pumpkin spice cookie and complimentary pumpkin spice air freshener!
And don't forget to check out our scented candle display, featuring 37 varieties of pumpkin spice from around the globe!". :meh:
